Description: The research group has discovered bacterial isolates capable of detoxifying trichothecene mycotoxins, particularly, deoxynivalenol, through de-epoxidation and epimerization. The task of the Visiting Fellow is to identify enzyme(s) involved in the detoxification pathways using biochemistry and/or molecular biology approaches. Background information can be found in the following publications: He, J., Zhou, T., et al. (2009). Chemical and biological transformations for detoxification of trichothecene mycotoxins in human and animal food chains: A review. Trends in Food Science & Technology 21:67-76.
