Position: Copy Operator
Location: Toronto, ON
Status: Full Time



  • Process and complete work orders and dockets
  • Operate a variety of digital printers and copiers
  • Monitor copier, print and binding supplies inventory, and make adjustments or request supplies as necessary
  • Perform routine maintenance, cleaning and repair of equipment
  • Advise clientele on print and copy needs, providing timeframe estimates for completion
  • Assist clientele with self-serve printers and copiers
  • Process payment using Point of Sale (POS) computer system (Retail customers)
  • Complete Requisition forms for production and billing (Clients using college accounts)
  • Determine between copying and offset print
  • Proof original job copy to sample to confirm accuracy of job specifications before processing and completion
  • Manipulate files to print efficiently
  • Assist with the scheduling of production
  • Manage and ensure the quality of output and finishing jobs, graphic adjustments to digital files may be required
  • Scan hard copies for print setup; i.e. merge documents and insert tabs/slip sheet
  • Make sure goods are correctly stored to prevent possible damage to goods; ensure all goods are appropriately packed for shipping
  • Communicate all activities/issues with manager on a daily basis
  • Perform bindery operations such as section marrying, signature nesting, collating, binding, stitching, trimming, folding, and finish wrapping
  • Operate small hand machines such as drills, plastic binding equipment, paper cutter, and staplers
  • Assist with loading/unloading goods
  • Other duties as required


  • Sign for, record and direct all incoming Canada Post and courier deliveries
  • Deliver, slot, pickup and sort all incoming and outgoing mail
  • Process internal and external mass mailings
  • Process all outgoing UPS and Purolator courier shipments
  • Receive incoming couriers and notify intended recipient(s) as soon as possible
  • Calculate and affix proper postage to all outgoing mail and parcels
  • Meter outgoing Canada Post mail
  • Maintain postage, courier, and shipping supplies as required
  • Customer service: answer any client’s inquiries regarding mail, courier items and supplies; respond to incoming email inquiries if applicable
  • Maintain accurate records of urgent business mail delivery
  • Ensure all lookups mail are processed, counted and logged
  • Order waybills for Reps
  • Work in conjunction with supervisor to formulate process improvements for the mailroom
  • Other duties as required


  • Ability to lift up to 60lbs
  • Ability to remain in standing position 50% or more
  • High attention to detail
  • Must verify accuracy of addresses and perform address lookups

Working Conditions:

  • Willingness to work outside of regular work hours on an occasional basis

  • Exposure to toner


  • Completion of secondary school
  • 1-2 years experience in a digital print and copy environment
  • Some knowledge of Xerox DC and Canon Image Runner is required
  • Some knowledge of digital copiers, printers and finishing machines
  • Some knowledge of PC platforms and Xerox Copiers is required
  • Must be familiar with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Email/Internet)
  • Strong problem solving, prioritizing, and multitasking skills
  • Excellent customer service, administration, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work unsupervised or with minimal supervision
  • Some knowledge of digital copiers with various in-line finishers
  • Some knowledge of a variety of finishing machines
  • Ability to adapt to change
  • Experience in customer/office service or mailroom (an asset)
  • Knowledge and experience using postage metering machine, UPS Connect, and Purolator Shipping systems (an asset)
  • Knowledge of a variety of mail equipment (an asset)
