Position: Copy Operator L1

Reports To: District Manager, Store Manager L1, Site Manager L2 Copy Centre, Print & Production Manager or Director of Operations

Responsibilities:

  • Process and complete work orders and dockets; process entire work cycle of an order, from receipt of request from client, through printing and copying
  • Interact with clientele to determine print and copy needs, and advise clients of timeframes for completion of job orders
  • Review work order to determine job specifications, such as ink colour and quantity required
  • Monitor copier, print and binding supplies inventory, and make adjustments or request supplies as necessary
  • Operate a variety of digital print and copy equipment to facilitate completion of orders
  • Proof original job copy to sample to confirm accuracy of job specifications before processing and completion
  • Call for service on equipment within the area
  • Perform routine maintenance, cleaning and repair of equipment
  • Ensure all requests are delivered before the deadline
  • Determine between copying and offset print
  • Communicate print work and up-sell to customers
  • Manipulate files to print efficiently
  • Assist with the scheduling of production
  • Provide consultation services and recommendations for best approach to job completion to customers, both internal and external
  • Manage and ensure the quality of output and finishing jobs, graphic adjustments to digital files may be required
  • Ensure timely production and delivery of jobs
  • Scan hard copies for print setup; i.e. merge documents and insert tabs/slip sheet
  • Make sure goods are correctly stored and prevent possible damage to goods; ensure all goods are appropriately packed for shipping
  • Communicate all activities/issues with manager on a daily basis
  • Other duties as required

Effort:

  • Perform bindery operations such as section marrying, signature nesting, collating, binding, stitching, trimming, folding, and finish wrapping
  • Operate small hand machines such as drills, plastic binding equipment, paper cutter, and staplers
  • Ability to lift up to 60lbs
  • Assist with loading/unloading goods
  • Ability to remain in standing position (50% plus)

Working Conditions:

  • Willingness to work outside of regular work hours on an occasional basis
  • Multiple demands
  • Exposure to toner

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Completion of secondary school is required
  • 1-2 years experience in a digital print and copy environment
  • Travel between oakville/Mississauga/Brampton/Toronto
  • Reliable transporation
  • Advanced knowledge of Xerox Copiers is required
  • Advanced knowledge of Xerox DC and Canon Image Runner is required
  • Advanced knowledge of digital copiers, printers and finishing machines
  • Advanced knowledge of PC platforms
  • Must be computer literate (Excel, Word, Email/Internet)
  • Strong problem solving and prioritizing ability
  • Ability to work quickly and under pressure of deadlines
  • Professional, pleasant and courteous manner
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent administration and organizational skills for information flow
  • Understand the importance of urgency and accuracy at the same time
  • Ability to work unsupervised or with minimal supervision
  • Advanced knowledge of digital copiers with various in-line finishers
  • Advanced knowledge of a variety of finishing machines; e.g. Cerlx bindery, wrapping, etc.
  • Knowledge of WHMIS and basic health and safety procedures
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities
