Position Summary:

We are looking for student and/or graduates from a media or current affairs-skewed background with online writing experience. An interest in technology or experience of technical writing is preferred. Attention to detail, excellent writing ability, good organisation and strong grammar skills are vital to the role, as is the ability to quickly become familiarized with new concepts. 


Responsibilities will include interviewing our clients at their events, reporting everything from sports events, camps, collegiate games, appearances and philanthropic activities

Research and write 2-4 original articles per month about urban related, trends, challenges and opportunities regionally and nationally.

Work individually or in teams to report on news and features as assigned by the editor-in-chief

Participate (via telephone/online) in a weekly or bi-weekly editorial meeting with the Fame Television digital media team and editor in chief

Be available for reporting, monitoring and editing duties as required Grow story exposure by engaging in social media

Write and distribute press releases on events

Write stories/summaries on sporting events

Attend sporting events

Serve as liaison between contacts and our online channel

Build relationship with other members of the media

Edit summaries and recaps and post stories on the website

Assist with website maintenance

Update social networks (Facebook, Twitter, Wikipedia)Coordinate requirements from other Journalism Interns

Successful candidates will possess:

A keen interest in urban culture and knowledge about the urban community A journalism studies background and/or proven writing and communication skills

An understanding of the difference between personal narrative and objective reporting

Applicants should be innovative, creative, self-starting, energetic thinkers interested in sharing and
implementing new ideas

Freshmen (2nd semester), sophomores, juniors and seniors are welcome to apply. Have extremely good attention to detail and grammatical skills

Be a go-getter and self-starter with a positive, solution-oriented attitude

Empathetic, patient, and have a genuine interest in empowering and supporting others Be self-motivated and enjoy working independently
