When the GTAA made a commitment to the federal government to commence interim planning in regards to a possible airport on the Pickering lands, we recognized that it would be pertinent to be fully accessible to the local community and all stakeholders. For the past eight months, the GTAA has overseen the restoration of the Bentley-Gibson House in Brougham, which will serve as our public site office. With the support of local historical groups, the GTAA has worked hard to ensure that this house, which has been designated as a recognized historical building, will meet the needs of the GTAA while at the same time respecting the history of the property and the house.
The GTAA is pleased to finally report that restoration is for the most part complete, and that the office has been open to the public since the end of March. Recent visitors will have noticed that much work still needs to be done outside on the property, including landscaping and the clearing of years of overgrowth.
The GTAA is finding that the office is an easily accessible location where information can be exchanged regarding the work of the GTAA and a possible future airport. The Pickering site office is located at 3590 Brock Road in the Hamlet of Brougham, at the corner of Highway 7 and Brock Road. We invite you to drop in to learn more about the GTAA and our role in the future of the Pickering lands. – less–ZoomInfo
