Not the greatest of work experiences
Personal Training Specialist (PTS) (Former Employee) –  Bradford, ON28 April 2017
Micromanagement was way overboard. Pay was horrible and pay was also taken away. Long hours for no real pay out at all. Bad experience. Did put up with it for 3 months to see if things turned around but did not.

Fast paced environment focused on members!
General Manager (Former Employee) –  Milton, ON26 April 2017
Fast paced environment with many competing demands. The biggest focus is on members, from acquiring members to keep them consistently coming into the club and providing options to leaving members as well.

Typical day (depending on the role) is meetings, interacting with members, providing tours, generating leads, calling prospective and current members, assisting members with questions regarding accounts and equipment, goal setting.

Most enjoyable part is being able to work with a team to impact the lives of canadians everyday. It is an extremely rewarding company to work for whenever you make a members day.
Pros
free membership, great team, build relationships
Cons
work/life balance

You are expendable
Fitness Advisor (Former Employee) –  Scarborough, ON26 April 2017
Unless you are management you are never secure in your position. They protect each other and if they don't like you personally your job is in jeopardy.

Zero work life balance
Assistant Manager (Current Employee) –  Ontario24 April 2017
Not a bad company to work for if you absolutely love Health and Fitness. They treat you well but require a lot of unpaid OT. Even at a manager level you are looked down on for working your scheduled hours only , and not OT. If you do not like sales or pressure do not apply as you will not last.
Pros
Great skill building, Great employees
Cons
Work life Balance is non existent

Great environment, poor management
Personal Trainer (Former Employee) –  Scarborough, ON17 April 2017
Working for Goodlife was a good foot in the door for the fitness industry. I was provided with the necessary guidance in order to be successful. However, that will not always be the case in every location. I was very fortunate to have gotten in with the management staff at the time of my hiring, however things were not the same as soon as management staff changed. Hours and pay will be dependent on how many clients you take. So work/life balance and pay is dependent on you. You are also expected to find your own clients, so be prepared by doing some sales training ahead of time.
Pros
Great environment, free gym
Cons
management can be unprofessional

Goodlife has been apart of my life for the last two years, they have given me opportunities and have helped me strive for my own goals. Management is supportive and understanding but room in advancement is non existent. Hours are traitorous but the gym itself is a lovely environment!

Fitness Manager (Former Employee) –  Ottawa, ON27 March 2017
Need to have strong work ethic and not be afraid of sales in order to do this job successfully. It is great when you are seeing the results of your clients and hiring/developing your trainers to be successful.
