Great firm to work with
Summer Analyst (Former Employee), Hong Kong, HKIFebruary 24, 2015
It was a 10-week intensive internship with Corporate Services Division. GS is a great firm, a lot of intelligent and hardworking people, however, back office staff might feel less valued somehow.

Goldman is all it is cracked up to be
Senior Analyst, Brand and Content Strategy (Current Employee), New York, NYFebruary 16, 2015
Pros: healthcare, benefits
Cons: culture
The culture is unfortunately full of politics and people willing to throw you under the bus if it help them out. Not a place to get comfortable, but benefits can outweigh that feeling of insecurity.

I wasn't really able to move upwards within the company. I hit a ceiling and needed to find another company to grow with, but overall, it was a very beneficial experience.

Fast paced and great learning experience
Associate Lead Specialist (Current Employee), Salt Lake City, UTJanuary 21, 2015
Pros: frequent training & learning opportunities
Cons: high processing, low personal interaction.
The company provides good benefits and satisfactory pay. The day to day responsibilities are usually very manual and process intensive with low personal interaction (except email and phone). The company provides frequent trainings on compliance, regulations, and updated policies and procedures. This is a fast paced job and a great company to work for overall.

Executive Asst. to Director of Acquisitions (Former Employee), Boston, MAJanuary 21, 2015
Pros: ability to work with top people in field
Cons: pay for administrative positions did not take into account how much support we offer the office
Worked there for seven years. Local office and management was wonderful. Mgr inspired group to do well without micromanagement such a different culture from most big corporate offices.

Asia Equity Sales & Sales Trading (Vice President) (Former Employee), Hong Kong, HKIJanuary 7, 2015
Pros: $$$
Cons: limited work-life balance
they hire the best of the best for every role, and the pressure to perform is prevalent everyday. you will be challenged positively, and compensated in positive correlation to your results. this is not a place for the stagnant mind, and you will need to network continuously to survive the politics with constant turnovers

Great company, very intelligent people. Type A personalities for the most part. Not a 9-5 environment. If you can't commit to at least 12 hours per day, not the right environment for you.

• Scrutinized traditional asset class diversification method by gauging volatility contribution from underlying risk factors to total portfolio variance, revealing 80%+ concentrated risk exposure to equity related factor.
• Tested asset class returns for normality by regressing them against risk factors and conducting block bootstrapping on historical risk factor data using MATLAB, uncovering significant fat-tailed distribution of portfolio returns.
• Utilized Black-Litterman Model to produce a diversified portfolio within the mean-variance optimization framework.
