Company Profile

Our client, a designer and manufacturer of oilfield products, is hiring a Human Resources Advisor. As the “go to” person in the area, this person will support the operational managers to coach and provide hands on support in the areas of general HR administration, with a focus on recruitment, employee relations, onboarding, performance managment, training, company policies and safety programs. He/she will be supporting a mix of journeymen and managerial staff with a strong technical background.


  • Provides effective and timely front line HR support to employee inquiries and to Managers on various HR related topics and counsel
  • Provide HR counsel to Managers on performance management, including improvement notices and action plans, as well as termination procedures and requirements
  • Be responsible for all recruitment and related administrative duties including:
  • Determines Hiring Managers' needs including discussing corporate salary range, placing ads internally and externally, pre-screening candidates, co-ordinates interviews, contact with recruiting companies (where required)
  • Co-ordinates pre-employment checks prior to hire
  • Prepares offer letters, new hire packages, and new hire announcements
  • Updates recruitment report on a weekly basis to maintain up to date information
  • Provide Managers and Finance department HR support on disability management and leave of absence cases. Manage the process and ensure all documentations are complete and are compliance to local employment laws
  • Conduct investigations regarding discipline, work performance, attendance management and harassment to ensure compliance with company policies, determine legal exposure, and make a recommendation to Senior Management on how to proceed
  • Validates all HR administrative forms for new hires, offer letters, transfers, status changes, compensation changes, terminations, promotions, retirements, and employment verification letters, and ensure they are correctly completed by Managers with appropriate approvals as well creating and maintaining employee files
  • Prepares and administers notices, related documentation, conducts exit interviews around termination of employment, if required
  • Participate in the preparation and analysis of management reports
  • Evaluates daily HR operation on an ongoing basis and makes recommendations to Senior Management on actions that will enhance productivity, efficiency, and profitability
  • Answer general HR enquiries
  • Monitor safety regulations, oversees the Safety Committee and take initiatives to improve company's work safe program
  • Maintenance of employee database and files
  • Supports managers and employees in the interpretation of corporate policies
  • Responsible for providing training sessions to support Human Resource initiatives


  • University degree or post-secondary education in Human Resources (Diploma/Certificate). CHRP designation would be an asset.
  • Minimum of 4 years HR Generalist experience. Ideally, will have worked in a manufacturing environment as a HR professional
  • Demonstrated understanding of employment legislations and tax laws for payroll purpose
  • Problem solving and conflict resolution skills hands on experience of HR databases
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and exceptional interpersonal, listening and interpretative skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize work and exercise initiative to ensure high quality service
  • Detail and results oriented with ability to work independently
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Office Products, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
