Job Title: Cost Accountant

Family owned Construction company in Delta offering a wide range of heavy construction services.
Reporting to the Controller and the VP Finance and Administration, the Cost Accountant will compile, maintain and analyze costing information. Create reports to support business decisions and collaborate with stakeholders to develop and refine reporting requirements.
Analyze costs, revenues and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses
Set up new projects and manage individual project cost codes and budget data in the database system
Verify individual job progress estimates, generate and post Accounts Receivable invoices and follow up on collections
Train operational staff on job cost functions including budgeting, cost analysis, cash flow forecasting, work in progress and job cost reporting requirements
Prepare statistical and cost analysis reports and assist project teams in controlling costs
Prepare monthly cost analysis reports for Executive Meetings
Preparation, adjustment and reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, profit and loss statements and other financial reports
Monthly bank reconciliations and adjusting journal entries
Maintain GL including prepaid expenses, recurring journal entries and clearing accounts
Manage Subcontracts AP, verify and code, generate and issue payment and handle inquiries
Coordinate month end adjusting entries for projects with the Project Managers.
Bachelor degree in Accounting
5 years’ experience in an Accounting environment
Exposure to Job Costing and Analysis
Experience with ERP systems
MS Office suite, and strong skills in Excel and Word
