Status: Full Time; Salaried + Commission

Summary:
To manage, supervise and coordinate the activities and operations of the Marketing and Group Sales Departments, to schedule and book groups for live events and to create, execute and manage a full scale advertising, marketing and public relations plan for live events.

JOB DUTIES (including, but not limited to...):

  • Develop, maintain and coordinate event and facility advertising programs, plans and opportunities
  • Create and place advertising media
  • Maintain and create detailed media budgets, settlement reconciliations, and recap summaries for facility events
  • Prepare written proposals; reevaluate potential advertising value of marketing inventory; initiate contractual arrangement; prepare contracts; negotiate terms as required
  • Implement and administer public relations model; plan, organize, and coordinate all public relations efforts for the facility and its events
  • Assist in the development and design of all facility advertising, marketing and collateral materials.
  • Manage and maintain venue website, venue social networking sites and email marketing database

  • Recruit and manage a group of interns to assist with marketing efforts
  • Responsible for generating group ticket and premium seating package sales for WFCU Centre family events (Disney Live!, Harlem Globetrotters, Sesame Street Live, The Wiggles!, Cirque du Soleil etc…) and other assigned events
  • Solicitation of new business through cold calling, networking and face-to-face appointments
  • Managing and maintaining good-working relationships with existing group sales accounts
  • Meet and exceed appointed sales and performance goals and objectives
  • Organize, advertise and implement dinner package and pre/post party options around appropriate events
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in marketing, public relations or other related field
  • Minimum of 2 years of increasingly responsible experience in marketing/sales, preferably with a sports facility, convention center, performing arts facility or other multi-purpose public assembly facility
  • Knowledge of marketing, advertising, public relations and sales program development, implementation and experience in the Windsor, Ontario market
  • Website maintenance experience is very much encouraged
  • Microsoft office applications and word processing skills required, as well as spreadsheets, database, presentation, graphic design, Photoshop, PowerPoint and internet software
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, days, evenings, weekends, holidays, extended (long) work days and extended numbers of days
  • Must be a self motivated individual with the ability to create and maintain business relationships
