Payroll Assistant to HR and Payroll Manager

Location: Audi Autohaus Victoria
Position: Payroll Assistant to Human Resource and Payroll Manager
Reports to: The Human Resource and Payroll Manager.
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm with ½ hour lunch break
Job Description: The Payroll Assistant will be required to collect, input and processs payroll for a staff of 200 plus employees. The payroll assistant works within a manual system to input data into a payroll provider system for commission, semi-monthly and bi-weekly payroll runs.
This position provides an excellent opportunity to exercise a broad range of Payroll Skills and processes.
The Payroll Assistant will also provide HR administrative assistance to the entire German Auto Import Network company under the direction of theHR & Payroll Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities regarding Payroll:
Process payroll for all employees and ensure all processes and procedures are carried out in accordance with the defined criteria
Update and maintain payroll records appropriately and accurately
Handle basic administrative payroll duties including data entry, filing, and faxing
Monitor the account distribution of salary and wage payments including correcting prior distributions
Gather and analyze payroll data; make recommendations and prepare various payroll reports to be submitted to the Human Resource & Payroll Manager
Responsible for all benefit administration, Worksafe Claims, Union and RRSP remittances
Respond to employee inquiries relating to payroll and benefits.
Must look after highly sensitive and confidential information relating to payroll and HR in a professional manner
Must possess the ability to work in a fast paced environment, to work accurately under pressure and within very tight timelines.
Duties and Responsibilities regarding to HR:
Assist the HR Manager with administrative tasks to identify staff vacancies - assist with recruiting and selection tasks
Help create job description ads and publish them on a variety of assigned websites
Manage various new hire documents
Plan, direct, and coordinate some work activities
Assisting with the maintenance of personnel records
Solid understanding of and experience with ADP Payroll System
Formal payroll education and training a requirement - Canadian Payroll Association preferred
Minimum 3 years of payroll experience
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
Well-developed MS Office skills and experience (i.e. Outlook, Word and Excel)
Excellent communication skills
Prior experience within the automotive industry an asset
A willingness to learn and possesses a positive attitude
Ability to cope under pressure.
