Location: BMW Victoria
Position: Certified Licensed Technician (BMW) - no apprentices at this time
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a thirty minute lunch break.
Reports To: Service Manager and Fixed Operations Manager
The Technician is required to examine the extent of damage and/or malfunctions of a vehicle and performs the necessary work on the vehicle. The successful candidate must possess the ability to quickly identify a vehicle's problem and present an appropriate solution. Hence the Technician must have a strong understanding of the workings of a vehicle, preferably with the brands we represent. Please direct your attention to the essential duties listed below.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Please note that the following list of duties and responsibilities is not exhaustive and that you may be expected to perform other reasonable duties and responsibilities should the need arise.
Provide excellent quality service including attention to detail of all mechanical and electrical repairs
Perform complex electrical and mechanical diagnostics
Review work orders and discuss work with supervisors and /or shop foreman
Inspect vehicle, road test, test automotive systems and components using computerized diagnostic and other testing devices to diagnose and isolate faults
Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of automotive systems including fuel system, brakes, steering and suspension, engine and drive train, emission control and exhaust, cooling and climate control, and electrical and electronic systems using hand tools and other specialized automotive repair equipment
Test and adjust repaired systems to manufacturer's performance specifications
Perform scheduled maintenance services, such as oil changes, lubrications and tune ups
Advise customers on work performed, general vehicle condition and future repair requirements
Inspect and test mechanical units, such as engines, transmissions, axles and brake systems, to locate faults and malfunctions
Repair or replace mechanical units or components using hand and power tools
Test and adjust units to specifications for proper performance
Complete reports to record problems and work performed
Willingness to attend out of town training when available
Must be a certified licensed technician
High School diploma or the equivalent
Two years' experience in a related field
A valid B.C. Driver's License with a good driving record
Diagnostic Abilities and good judgment
Ability to repair a variety of automotive components
