GATX Financial Corporation (GFC) leases, manages, operates and invests in assets in the rail, marine and industrial equipment markets. GFC is a wholly owned subsidiary of GATX Corporation (GATX). The Company operates through three segments: Rail, Specialty and American Steamship Company (ASC). Rail is principally engaged in leasing tank and freight – more... railcars and locomotives. ASC operates a fleet of self-unloading marine vessels on the Great Lakes and is engaged in the waterborne transportation of dry bulk commodities. On January 17, 2007, the Company completed the sale of its aircraft leasing business to Macquarie Aircraft Leasing Limited (MALL). During the year ended December 31, 2006, GFC sold 26 wholly owned and partnered aircraft and its interest in Pembroke Group, a 50% owned aircraft leasing affiliate. During 2006, the Company disposed of its aircraft leasing operation (formerly the Air segment).
