Pre-Board Screening Officer (Current Employee) –  Fort McMurray, AB21 September 2017
Management is the worst they don't care about their staff.
Either early morning starts or late night finishes.

Security Guard and Security Concierge (Former Employee) –  Toronto, ON21 September 2017
Everything! The people are all super nice and friendly, probably because we are all treated with respect. Really relaxed, family style atmosphere but doesn't stop your ability to work like some places. Great benefits and snacks/drinks provided. Management really take the time to talk to everyone and listen to opinions. Training budget is great and you are encouraged to use it.

A good opertunity for those who like a challenge... not so much for those who enjoy their sanity...
Rather not say (Current Employee) –  Ontario19 September 2017
Working on a site that was acquired by GardaWorld meant trying to integrate the new company mentality/approach with the old company ideology to service delivery. There have been many struggles along the way and there has been a lack of support from the upper management team in delivering on our clients basic expectations. At a site level we often struggle to meet the basic expectations of the client, as there is little support from the scheduling department when regular and special coverage shifts go unstaffed. Often times when shifts run open the work is then reallocated to patrol staff on site. This leads to a reduced quality in scheduled duties, and increases the stress on Patrol Guards (who often have to forgo their full breaks to accommodate the increased work), Dispatchers and Supervisors who are expected to figure out how to run a shift with multiple extra coverage or even core coverage shifts open, accommodate breaks for fixed positioned staff and respond to unforeseen circumstances and emergencies, and then come back in 8, 12 or 16 hours and do it all over again and again. When guards are assigned for shifts from the scheduling pool they often arrive unequiped for their duty, lacking basic uniform items, claiming they were never issued them from the uniform department. GardaWorld management seems to come up with excuses or band-aid solutions rather than addressing head on the issues that they are faced with. There is also an apparent mentality that it is better to run a shift open than to incur overtime. This only exacerbates a downward spiral in staff turnover, low  more... employee morale and the reduced deliverable of performance to the client. GardaWorld is trying to be a high end restaurant while training and paying employees at drive-in resuarant expectations and rates. If the company doesn't come to terms with its shortcomings and find a way to change it's course, I expect they will lose many major contracts in the coming months and years.  less
Pros
A challenging work environment, for those who are willing to step up to unpredictability on every shift
Cons
A challenging work environment, for those who are willing to suffer through the unpredictability on every shift

Very negative place to work
Screening Officer (Current Employee) –  Winnipeg, MB18 September 2017
Very negative place to work. Your movements are watched and you are judged always. The stress level in this place is toxic! Your breaks are never on time and you have to wait if you asked to go to the washroom. Everything is put on the screeners shoulders and management is never accountable for anything!

Great job for students and older people. Shift work based on seniority. Will not get full time soon. Benefits not shared for family members with part-time. Schedule very flexible meaning you can easily trade or give away your shifts. Good luck!

Worst management
Security Guard Mobile Division (Former Employee) –  Edmonton, AB10 September 2017
This is one of the worst managements I've come across in my entire history of security, they let a guy that gets fired from paladin for losing $25,000,000 in contacts and bring him to Garda and what happens contacts start dropping like flies. Management is ignorant and stuck in their ways don't ever expect a raise or promotion.

Mobile Patrol Officer (Former Employee) –  Edmonton, AB4 September 2017
A typical day on patrol can be quite hectic. Alarm response can set you back and you have to time manage. You learn the lay of the land, trouble spots, how long it takes you to get somewhere, the type of people you will deal with. Management takes an active interest in what you do and puts you back on track to get the best job done. The hardest part of the job is the dealing with the criminal element of course. It's satisfying to put in a good nights work and solved most problems.
Pros
Benifits for mobile drivers.
Cons
Some danger involved with drug users.
