Accounting Assistant Co-Op

Location: Toronto, ON
Status: Unpaid Co-Op (compensation for monthly metro pass)
Hours: Monday-Friday (Flexible)

Responsibilities:

  • Keep track of received data and documents
  • Contact originators of documents to resolve questions, inconsistencies, or missing data
  • Enter alphabetic, numeric, or symbolic data from source documents into computer following format displayed on screen, and enters necessary codes
  • Review error reports and enters corrections into accounting system
  • File or route documents after entry
  • Provide routine office support such as making copies, faxing etc.
  • Prepare and sort documents, and identify and interpret data to be entered
  • Match Purchase Orders with receipts and invoices
  • Maintain Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable filing
  • Reconciliation of vendor and customer statements
  • Other accounting functions

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in an Accounting program
  • Computer literate (MS Office: Word, Excel)
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal, customer service & time management skills
  • Able to work independently
  • Intermediate knowledge of Internet and e-mail programs
