Product Manager Business Intelligence HCIT (Former Employee), Burlington, VT – September 13, 2012
Pros: people
Cons: regular management turnover, everyone trying to make a mark
In my last position my team was amazing. As a product manager you are working across the company managing cross functional teams to reach your end goal. I really enjoyed the people.

Overall- this is the best place to work , productive, fun & good management
COLLECTIONS SPECIALIST (Former Employee), Princeton, NJ – September 10, 2012
Pros: holiday celebration, giveaways, few weeks of sickdays, overtime & bonuses
Cons: summer hours, leave early on fridays
The best place to work, best people to work with & the most excellent company you could possibly be to work in a day to day basis, the best part of this job is when you get your compensation due to your hard work. Benefits is great for you & your family. I've learned so much about people's life, people's illness & determine how they will be treated – more... & cared for.

I enjoyed working with my team department (nice supervisor & team to work & be with) unfortunately the department moved to Florida. We always worked us a team & never expect to lost this department.

Ge Healthcare is one of the best place to work, I would like to work with this company again if theres any opportunity in the future – less

Contracted Here
Contractor (Former Employee), Waukesha – August 25, 2012
Pros: the facilities and physical environment, the work was of interest
Cons: mainly the supervisor and employees and their affects on everything
My manager had a personal agenda which wasn't in anyone's interest except himself and his alias. Instead of focusing on your work and trying to get it as correct as possible, you had to watch out for how he was manipulating you and the instructions he was or wasn't giving you. Since he was planning on having problems and layinig the blame on others, – more... he actually wanted things to go badly.
Since he's been there forever, I would guess that this isn't totally unique.

The empoyees love to exercise any advantage they have over contractors, and they drag out projects for job security. The longer projects take and the more problems there are, the more need and work there is for employees.

A one year maximum for contractors is a major issue, totally exploits the American Worker – less

It nearly fits into the catagory of fraud to have designers who have two years of experience on Pro/E to judge the work of experienced Pro/E users. Of course it's mainly their own job security they care about and the ego boost they get out of messing with contractors who could easily out work them.

5 years
Manufacturing engineer (Former Employee), Madison, WI – August 20, 2012
Pros: ok pay starting from college, you can learn a lot. (i did)
Cons: read review
Worked there 5 years, about 2 years after GE got us. It was great at first, and then it just started going downhill. To be asked to work 50 or 60 hours a week for a bit is ok. But to do it all the time it not for me. Plus to do it so they don’t have to rehire people that quit. Bad work life balance, and disrespect from higher management. Those that – more... found an easy quiet job did no work. Others would fight each other to get more of a very small raise if any cause the economy is bad. I think everyone knows how GE is and has been doing. – less

Stressful and frustrating for a creative person
Software Designer (Former Employee), Seattle, WA – July 26, 2012
Trying to make a positive impact on the product was always an uphill battle.
The amount of unnecessary bureaucracy and convoluted process resulted in an ineffective team with low morale, incapable of producing a sellable product.

enjoyable comapny to work for
Contracts Planning administrator (Current Employee), Cardiff – July 24, 2012
Pros: ideally located, fantastic views
I have enjoyed my 28 years at GE but have been made redundant so am looking for a new challenge. I am loyal, can work well in a team or on my own. My core role is contracts administration which entails renewing service contract to the value of £1.5 million, ensuring contractor are brought on to site in a safe manner, dealing with equipment breakdowns – more... liaising with equipment users and service providers – less

Not a good experience for me
Program Coordinator (Former Employee), Decatur, IL – July 20, 2012
Pros: bad management
Cons: good benefits
I had a very bad experience working for GE. I worked for them for 11 yrs. I had some very bad managers and I could not get any help with the problems. I went thru severl channels trying to get help and they would believe the managemment team. There was alot of bad things going on in my shop and I became the out cast because I would try to make thing's – more... right. I had one good manager and he was aware of the problems and helped. Once he was gone it went back to the same old same old so I quite. Couldn't take it no more. – less

GE is a tough company to work for unless you are Type A
Quality (Current Employee), Salt Lake City, UT – July 15, 2012
Pros: excellent pay, work for a global corporation, training, education reimbursement
Cons: poor medical and dental benefits, non existent work life balance, routine lay offs and lack of job security
60+ hour work weeks. Work comes first, then family. Stressful environment with many Type A personalities. Co workers are wonderful and very supportive. Management can be supportive, but are held to unlikely deadlines which in turn causes a lot of stress in the office. Benefits are awful and very expensive for medical and dental. I have learned so much – more... since I started working at GE and am thankful for this. I feel I can conquer the World with my training and skills I learned from GE. High turnover from employees getting burned out. The GE corporate culture doesnt seem to mesh well with the Utah culture where family comes first. Type A personalities can be very harsh at times and inconsiderate of others. Worked too many Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays and overtime to meet end of year deadlines with no recognition or compensation in return. – less
