Pros: excellent pay, work for a global corporation, training, education reimbursement
Cons: poor medical and dental benefits, non existent work life balance, routine lay offs and lack of job security
60+ hour work weeks. Work comes first, then family. Stressful environment with many Type A personalities. Co workers are wonderful and very supportive. Management can be supportive, but are held to unlikely deadlines which in turn causes a lot of stress in the office. Benefits are awful and very expensive for medical and dental. – more... since I started working at GE and am thankful for this. I feel I can conquer the World with my training and skills I learned from GE. High turnover from employees getting burned out. The GE corporate culture doesnt seem to mesh well with the Utah culture where family comes first. Type A personalities can be very harsh at times and inconsiderate of others. Worked too many Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays and overtime to meet end of year deadlines with no recognition or compensation in return. – less

It nearly fits into the catagory of fraud to have designers who have two years of experience on Pro/E to judge the work of experienced Pro/E users. Of course it's mainly their own job security they care about and the ego boost they get out of messing with contractors who could easily out work them.
