High Tech Equipment and had to learn daily new equipment and how it works
Healthcare Tech Customer Service (Former Employee), Nashville, TNMay 12, 2014
Pros: having to just work monday thru friday and having weekend off most of the time, meeting new people every day, pride in your work and accomplishments
Cons: having a emergency on your day off and you have to go fix the problem for the hosptial.
typical day at work: checking what equipment needed to be inspected for a yearly schedule pm. ordering parts for broken equipment, safety meetings or inspections due, daily reports, the nice thing about working with GE every day would be a different day even though you would do the same thing something else would happen where your day would be changed – more... due to either new equipment needed to be installed and then inspected or something just broke in the emergency department or the operating room that needs to be fixed now or having a doctor looking at you please fix this so he can finish his job with his patient. – less

GE Healthcare
X-ray service Engineer (Former Employee), Goffstown, NHApril 9, 2014
Pros: wages, car
Cons: stress, metrics based on numbers instead of customer satisfaction.
17 years of servicing all manufactory x-ray equipment. Multi-Vendor Leader 17 years and 3 years X-ray Leader during the integration period.(Merging core and MV engineers) Fully trained on all GE x-ray.
Provide service as requested by the customers. Schedule and perform preventative Maintenance on X-ray, Mammographic and non-GE equipment.
I learned that – more... the changes in Healthcare caused me to loose my job. My experience and wages were commensurate to my level of tenure/ seniority. Workforce reductions are never easy.
My co-workers mostly were helpful, attentive. Most were very trainable. Some became good friends.
Most difficult part of the job for me was trying to be two places at once, partly because of geography. Mostly because I repaired non-GE equipment.
Most enjoyable part was interacting with my Customers. Advocating for them and keeping their level of satisfaction at a very high level. – less
