12 hour shifts, great time off. Very busy. good demand of product, plenty of overime

-Unrealistic work load expectations
-Incompetency is rewarded by shifting workload to competent employees.
-Women undervalued

I am looking aggressively for a substantial position anywhere in USA.

My role is very varied and you have to be able to multi-task and only escalate when necassary. My organisational skills have developed working here and my ability to own calls and deal with effectively and efficiently.

I have been very lucky to work in a very friendly team.

The hardest part of the job is not having the support required and learning – more... to deal with more difficult customers using your own initiative and also managing your workload and prioritising and delegating smaller tasks.

GE continually makes staffing cuts and does not seem to care about or understand the impact on those continually picking up the extra work. There is NO work life balance, despite what is shown on their websites or indicated in their job descriptions. The culture is one where you are expected to be available and on-call 24/7. In 2011, senior leadership – more... mandated the employees to work on their two Christmas holidays in order to meet sales goals. There are some benefits to working at GE. You can learn a lot, but they have a very punitive style of management. Outdated!

A great organization to grow and expand your career, as you're afforded the opportunity to work with some of the best and brightest minds at the corporate HQ as well as the field. Very good management with excellent career progression opportunities. While I have heard that recently the work/life balance as become a bit more equitable, it was a challenge – more... years ago to juggle both as the organization is very 'driven' as a whole. – less

I had the privilege of being part of a high visibility business within GE and gained exposure to CMO and VP relationships with many opportunities to present to them directly. I received the 4i Marketing Award, competing against marketers across all GE businesses.

In the days of the iconic CEO and his meritocracy, and those that followed in his shadow, GE was a different company. Often found on the Forbes most admired list and appearing in many HBR case studies and other blogs, the company was filled with type A personalities and a hard charging attitude. Unfortunately, this distanced GE from some of it's customers – more... because they were seen as rigid and inflexible. The inside joke heard from many customers was often "you might buy better, but you wont pay more". While this was sometimes true, and reflected the up and down struggles of the GE product innovation and engineering teams, it was never a long-term common thread in the company. GE churned out great technology, and world-class leadership. The company was committed to dominance in #1 or #2 market positions wherever they played, and they could only accomplish this with outstanding products and customer service, along with committed front line personnel dedicated to assisting their customer. After the economic downturn, GE tried many different strategies to reinvent itself. It cleared house of many of the "blue blood" managers and "highly compensated staff". They tried to imbed simplicity and a more nimble and flexible attitude. Unfortunately, while they accomplished some of these things, they also lost quality. Today the political structure is entirely different, the meritocracy is waning, and some of the creativity has been absent for roughly 5 years. GE will need to proactively and truly reinvent this division. They've lost their way in how to achieve shareholder value and they've been absent from the most admired list more often than not. Today's GE isn't the one you will hear or read about in your MBA classes, and so long as you go in with eyes wide open, you will find a strong work ethic, with very good pay and benefits, within a once exemplary company that needs new leadership to become better than it ever was – less

I was amazed working in a global brand , but when I joined it took just 2 weeks to understand I was in a nightmare, DOS operation system softwares, uncapable people, people working are relatives of some managers mostly . It was my lifes worst decision to join this company, so never believe in the brand name of companies

I love the products of this company. They have great process for developing high rated employees.

I've learned about DICOMs and HL7, tested a CD Film on a Rimage machine, AutoFetch, Cedara and TraumaCad. I've worked on PACS-IW, WebDx and CPACS. I've created Verification and Validation Test Plans and Test Reports, TCD, Impact Assessment.
My managers and co-workers were always polite and helpful.

Direct employees were treated with respect and valued for their talents and input with regard to the advancement of corporate technologies and service. In contrast, contract employees were not invited or allowed to participate in most corporate events, meetings, discussions.

• Implementation and development of embedded system for CT-Scan machine for signal and image processing application. Key resource and strongly used C++, OpenCL/CUDA programming for development and unit level testing using shell scripts on GPU/CPU platform on Linux OS.
• Scrum activity handling, project planning, time estimation.
• Working in CT Innovation – more... Group, Work involves, design and development of parallel algorithms, port them to various computing platforms (Distributed, Shared memory as well as many and multicore) updating on IBM clearcase subversion control for build release.
• Implementation is review and validated with Covarity and Code Collaborator for final release. – less

This is a great job. My co-workers are great and we have a lot of fun. Expectations are high, but they give you all the tools you need to succeed. Dynamic environment which makes you adapt to a lot of situations.

Work / life balance was sometimes overlooked, but if good benefits and salary can compensate you desire for balance, you should find it here. Management is decent and good about recongnizing hard work.

GE offers good benefits overall. The company is very established.
