About the Job
The Senior Accountant takes a lead and responsible role in the delivery of all periodic reporting generated by Corporate Finance. The position is also responsible for best practice or industry reviews of our reporting to ensure compliance. The incumbent is expected to perform senior level analysis and bring strong organizational skills to the team and to provide support to the Manager Financial Reporting, Director Corporate Finance and Senior Vice President, Finance.
Specific Responsibilities:
Prepares year-end consolidated financial statements; this includes taking a lead role in the preparation of the non-investment notes attached to the consolidated financial statements
Performs monthly G/L close and consolidation and liaises with other departments as required, ensuring that all the general ledger activities and reconciliations are recorded in a complete, accurate and timely manner

Peviews accounts payable and accounts receivable processing and OPTrust payroll entries

Works with the Director of Actuarial Services and Plan Policy with regard to actuarial information pertaining to monthly financial and management reporting and the funding valuation

Responsible for recommending new procedures and guidelines for financial reporting to address new and revised accounting standards

Performs other financial functions and project work, as assigned.
Skill and Knowledge
At least 7 years post-qualification work experience preferably in the automotive industry

Proficiency with Ceridian program.
Ability to prepare, review, compare/contrast and analyze financial information

Ability to deliver timely and accurate reporting by coordinating all source activity in a time appropriate manner

Strong analytical skills to identify information anomalies and solve problems

High level proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word and Excel are required

Ability to prioritize tasks, work on multiple assignments and meet tight deadlines.
