Our client, a dynamic, technology-based, organization is looking for the greatest minds in Montreal. They are seeking a Network Architect who will be responsible for optimizing the performance of the network. He or she is responsible for researching and purchasing latest equipment and hardware as well as coordinating all data center set ups.

Responsibilities:

Carry out network engineering duties:

 Examine and evaluate the speed and performance of the network

 Analyze performance constraints

 Conduct research on new technologies that can improve network performance
 Evaluate the adequacy of technology

 Oversee set up a testing environment and conduct tests on the network
 Oversee resolution of network problems

 Coordinate troubleshooting tasks
 Source new providers and equipment

 Manage the implementation of improvements to the network

Carry out tasks related to data centers:
 Some Travel to data center sites
 Coordinate installation and maintenance activities

 Oversee troubleshooting and problem resolution

Carry out purchasing duties:
 Source service providers

 Negotiate prices and terms with suppliers
 Prepare purchase orders and send them to suppliers in the shortest delays
 Follow up on product delivery

Manage projects:

 Review scope of projects and implementation dates

 Prioritize projects

 Liaise with external parties involved in current projects
 Follow up on deadlines
 Inform Administration of contracts

 Participate in projects managed by other team members

 Act as middle man with suppliers and vendors to ensure project confidentiality

Carry out ongoing research into new opportunities:
 Identify new partners
 Identify new technical solutions
 Identify new site locations

 Maintaining relationships with existing vendors and suppliers

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • 3 years of relative experience (experience in telecommunications would be considered an asset)
  • Flexibility to travel as needed
