Department Manager Trainee (Former Employee), Ottawa, ON – March 25, 2013
I worked at Future shop for just over a year, it was exciting at times and others it was highly stressful with all the pressure to sell their Extended Service Plan. Ultimately, this is why I left.
Setup and Recovery (Former Employee), Toronto, ON – March 18, 2013
Pros: enjoyed going there everyday
Cons: required a long travel time
I worked at future shop for a CO-OP position for school. I enjoy working with electronics and working at Future Shop allowed me to learn many new things about them. The management there was really good as all the employees stayed on task at all times but at the same time made it fun for others. The hardest part of my job was to dealing with certain – more... computer issues however with the help of my co-workers I was able to solve them. In all I enjoyed many factors in future shop as they have a well constructed, safe and fun society. – less
Seasonal Entertainment Sales Associate (Former Employee), Langley, BC – March 18, 2013
Pros: great discounts, easy relationships with co-workers, not a lot of stress
Cons: lot of boring moments
As a seasonal employee, my job would be to manage my section of the workplace which was the entertainment department. I would always talk to customers and assist them with whatever they wanted, I'd watch over the department to make sure it was clean, everything was in its proper place, and that no one tried to steal (which no one managed to do or try – more... as I worked there). There were a lot of time where you are just standing around a lot though, waiting for customers or just looking over things; you're just not constantly busy enough. Benefits were amazing, discounts are formidable. Co-workers extremely friendly and supportive which is really good from all the help they provide. The hardest part of the job has to be to satisfy the customer's needs, especially if you're starting off working there and the most enjoyable must be the easy relations you build with co-workers. – less
Productive and fun work place; provided a game room area
Warehouse Worker (Former Employee), Brampton, ON – March 4, 2013
Pros: game room
Cons: not a lot of overtime
A typical day at work would start from 6am until 2:30pm. I would have two 15 minute breaks and a 30 minute lunch break. I had to pack electronics, toys, and candy in totes and place them on the line. The managers were effective since they had meetings in the morning before every shift, going over what we did good, what we need to prove on, etc. They – more... discussed different safety topics each day and kept everyone involved and on task. My co-workes ranged from teenagers to adults which was fun. I was able to learn about different personalities, lifestyles, and interests. The most enjoyable part is when they would have pot luck on Friday's and we were able to try different foods. – less
Customer Service (Former Employee), Toronto, ON – March 3, 2013
Pros: chance to accelerate your career
Cons: long hours
prepare work schedules, train and hire new and existing employees. Deal with irate customers and provide solutions beneficial to bothe the company and customer. managed a team of 10 to 12 customer service representatives. recieved and made outgoing calls. had monthly meetings and monthly entertainment events
Entertainment Sales Specialist/ Customer Service (Former Employee), Brampton Ontario – February 23, 2013
Pros: close to home
Cons: management was unfair
i worked as a sales representative in the gaming department, i was top in sales with selling warranties and different types of plans on gaming systems. I cashed customers out on a regular basis, and i was never short money- nor did i ever misplace or disrespect someones personal information.
Fast paced and challenging place to work. Numbers driven, fun and competitive.
Sales Associate (Former Employee), Ottawa, ON – February 19, 2013
Pros: free lunches ever once and a while and the employee discount.
Cons: inconsistant hours and dropping commission percentages.
A typical day consisted of first a group meeting to discuss sales goals and targets. Then completing a checklist of chores to be done throughout the day. Selling home theatre products and services. I leaned some great tips on multi tasking in a faced paced environment. Management was however not in the best shape when I arrived. A lot of new managers – more... that ended up being hired then fired by the store manager. Then the store manager himself was let go. The leadership was lacking. My co-workers were great people and I throughly enjoyed working with them. The hardest part about working there was the lack of direction and leadership. The best thing about the job was overall environment and co-workers. – less

Pros: great coworkers, great work
Cons: slow days every once in a while make it sometimes boring
The people were great and the work was rarely dull, except for some nights when there was a lack of customers. Overall an excellent place to work and I'd definitely go back again if I was given the opportunity.

fun friendly environment learned how to improve sales techniques friendly coworkers hardest part of the job was finding things to do when not with customers. the most enjoyable part of the job was the wages
