Lots of Experience, Bad Work Culture
Customer Service Rep. / Sales Consultant (Current Employee), Edmonton, ABOctober 14, 2014
Pros: salary + commission, experience
Cons: overtime, poor management, horrid customers
A typical day at work is being treated poorly by co-workers and customers. I learned excellent customer service skills and how to save face in times of crisis. Management is disorganized. New managers are constantly being hired and, therefore, can't keep up the usual way things are run. This creates confusion and constant scheduling errors. Most enjoyable – more... parts of the job are the paychecks and the satisfying feeling of helping out customers... even if some of them don't appreciate it. – less

Awesome fun while being the best
Senior Customer Service Specialist/Sales (Current Employee), North YorkOctober 11, 2014
Pros: amazing staff discounts
Cons: under appreciated
When I walk into the front doors at future shop, I am greeted by very warm and friend staff. I know from the moment that i enter that regardless of all the customer related issues that might arise, It will be a fun filled day. Working in customer service, I learned to develop patience not only with others around me, but with myself as well. Some days – more... it requires more patience then others. Generally on a typical day, I try my absolute best to learn as much from my managers and senior staff around me. Possibly the hardest part in a day is when there is minimal coverage at the desks and while I am capable of taking care of the toughest issues, I myself cannot succeed alone. Working in a strong team is extremely important in this position. We all rely on each other to maintain a quality of service that when compared to other big box retailers, is far superior. This is also where my enjoyment from this position stems from. I am eager to learn more and deal with ever tougher challenges. It gives immense satisfaction to know that an issue that seemed quite difficult to resolve to someone else, was made easy through my assistance. – less

Digital Imaging Product Expert (Former Employee), Belleville ONSeptember 29, 2014
Pros: passion for the products.
Cons: not enough hours were available.
As an Imaging Product Expert I would open my department by replacing any old or incorrect price tags, completing a sign audit, and cleaning up. I learned about new products monthly and learned an immense amount from customers who have years of experience and always applied that info to my sales strategies. I formed friendships with my fellow employees – more... and the management teams. We were very much a family who could speak openly and rely on each other. I loved teaching customers about new products and getting them excited about what they were buying, and I loved when they would come back to the store just to tell me how happy they were with the product I sold them. – less

Sales Associate (Former Employee), Richmond, BCSeptember 21, 2014
Pros: easy work environment
Cons: not making money
This is a very easy working environment. People are very friendly. However, this is also not a making money job. There are many competitors around the city and online. customers are smart to select cheapest to buy. We can sell a lots but not make profit due to low cost.

Home Theater Product Expert (Former Employee), Hamilton, ONSeptember 19, 2014
Pros: commission based
Cons: low pay
A typical work day would include completing daily tasks provided by the manager on duty, interacting with customer to determine their wants and needs of product. The hardest part of the job would have to be determining the exact product the customer would need and locating it if we had stock. The part that i enjoyed most about the job was learning new – more... skills and features of electronics. – less

Merchandiser (Former Employee), Orillia, ONSeptember 19, 2014
Pros: fun atmosphere, great managers, good benefits
Cons: job security, expects more work with less pay/staff, lack of long term loyalty to people
Great place to work but not secure. The staff were wonderful and the company has great values when it comes to associates who can show numbers. It is sad, really, as the managers and staff were truly fun to work with. As a company, they have great benefits and staff discount. I would work there again.

I was working at future shop for seasonal job and it was very good experience. A typical day at work usually busy with lots of customer. I learned how to sell products, how to communicate with customers, how to use the cash register and learned about the new gaming systems. In the beginning it was quite hard but my boss and my co-workers made things – more... easier for me and I learned a lot from them. the most enjoyable part of the job was when ps4 console came out and I sold a lot of PlayStation 4 to the customers. – less
