Great opportunity to interact with people
Customer Service Representative (Former Employee), Brampton, ON – May 22, 2013
Future Shop was a fun environment where I was able to interact with a number of people from co-workers to customers. I learned how to handle situations when it gets of hand or when I happen to run into problems with my system. My co-workers were always a pleasure working with, they were all hard working and willing to help whenever it was needed. The – more... hardest part of the job was being on my feet all day but other than that, I definitely enjoyed meeting different types of people and making sure the customers were happy on their way out. – less

Poor management at my particular location
Mobile Audio Product Expert (Former Employee), Richmond Hill, ON – May 18, 2013
Pros: good money, good coworkers
Cons: high pressure sales, high pressure managers
Had the potential to be a great job, great staff, good money if you are an effective salesperson.

Did not enjoy being pushed to constantly up-sell warranties that, in many cases, are not worth it.
Also, I felt unfairly blamed in a few instances of theft where display items were stolen during my shift.

Fun part time job
Customer Service (Former Employee), Surrey BC – May 13, 2013
It was a good part time job while going to school, however in order to make a career out of it you'd have to move in to a management position or a sales position.

Pros: being surrounded by technology.

Working with people and coworkers is always enjoyable.

Company with hard working associates
Home Theatre Senior Install Manager (Former Employee), Chatham-Kent, ON – May 6, 2013
Pros: discounts, friendly people, good benefits, new and changing product
Cons: low recognition, employee retention, and low chance for advancement
Going to work and selling the products in your specific department. Doing monthly training to keep up with the ever changing world of electronics. Cleaning your department regularly and selling the additional coverages and services they offer.

They associated that work there really do care and if you talk to them like human being they will go above – more... and beyond for you. they management varies from store to store. Some managers will go above and beyond for there customer other will only do what they think will help there numbers look good.

The hardest part of my job there was going into a customers house after they have been told things by a sales person and trying to fulfil all the expectations the sales person told them without breaking any company policies, and without my customer getting upset and thinking poorly of Futureshop.

The best part about working there was most of the other employees. Other then a select few the store is very welcoming and the other associates are helpful, caring, and friendly. The benefits offered are above and beyond and the other perks they offer are nice aswell – less

Good Evironment to work in
Entertainment Associate (Former Employee), Etobicoke, ON – May 3, 2013
Pros: loved the management n co-workers around me.
Cons: not enough shifts to suit my living.
Work was nice, the environment was nice i would have stayed if they let me. I was already familiar with merchandising and customer service so it just brushed up my skills. The hardest part of the job was being left alone with very little knowledge about the particular store i was in. Like i had to learn 2 months work in 1 week. What i was trained in – more... i did well, the other tasks i was left in the dark and let go for no BEING FAST ENOUGH. – less

Great Place to work, but it was only seasonal
Customer Service (Former Employee), Guelph, ON – May 3, 2013
Pros: fun staff members
Cons: ignorant people
My day was always different because working in sales brings new challenges and rewards every day, you don't know what to expect and that makes the job exciting.
I didn't learn a whole lot in the way of the sales end as I have been working in customer service and sales for over 10 years, however I learned the system and how merchandise was ordered and – more... what the expectations were of myself as an employee.
Management was awesome especially the floor Manager who I worked with most, he knew how to get things done, help when needed but most importantly he had a sense of humor which I think is really sad when a person lacks that. He took his job seriously but he knew when the appropriate time was to joke around, it makes work environments much more positive.
The most difficult part of the job was dealing with an irate customer that is completely rude and disrespectful as it can bring your moral down and affect the rest of your day if you allow it to. I've learned to let it roll of my back but there is still times that you can be made to feel really horrible about your ability to do your job because of what someone says to you.
The most enjoyable part of the job was interacting with as many people as possible and closing sale after sale, commission was great and it definitely drives one to go the extra mile. – less

Customer Service Representative (part time) (Former Employee), Mississauga, ON – May 3, 2013
I loved working at future shop it was my kind of job. I loved doing what I can as Customer service and trying to help people out the best I can. I learned a lot of finical skills while I was working their. Their was really no hard part but trying to push myself. That would not be the hardest part but more of a challenge for myself.

Challenging and an amazing work experience
Customer Service Representative (Former Employee), Mississauga, ON – April 29, 2013
Pros: fair compensation
Cons: not enough hours according to budget
A typical day at work is to cash out customers and interact with many different people and helping them to find products they are looking for. The skills I learnt the most are cash handling skills, communication skills and time management skills. The management was fair and approachable. Nobody ever gave me a difficult time regarding the tasks I was – more... assigned and I did not give them a chance to criticize my performance. My co-workers were very friendly and helpful and I have built many strong networks during my stay there. The hardest part of my job was to let a customer leave the store unpleased with our services. Even though it did not happen every often but sometimes I had to let people down because what they want sometimes goes against the store's policy. However, I can proudly say that I tried my best to deal with such situations by respecting the company's policies and at the same time delivering excellent customer service. The most enjoyable part of my job was the satisfaction I get from assisting customers by meeting their needs and seeing how content they are with my service. – less

Commission based
Digital Imaging Sales Person (Former Employee), Ottawa, ON – April 23, 2013
Pros: my department manager, department co-workers, educational
Cons: commission based salary, no job security
The store wanted more women as sales people, so they assigned me to sale Cameras, so i needed training. For 3 months it was an active training while selling products.

I learned all kinda of information about cameras, video cameras, and home phones.

The department manager was great, and really encouraging.
A new store manager was hired in when I was – more... still in training, and I was the first of many he replaced with his own people from his old store.

My fellow co-workers in my department were really nice and encouraging, helpful when asked questions

The hardest part was the sales, I don't like pushing someone to buy an item. Sales were based on commissions the highest product made me the most money. My values couldn't co-exist with theirs, I didn't like convincing someone to buy a product – less

Futureshop
Customer Service Specialist (Former Employee), Calgary AB – April 23, 2013
Working at Futureshop gave me a headache everyday.
The music was always turned up and the employees did not care for their jobs. I felt like I was in high school all over again. I did learn how to manage other people and get them motivated.
The hardest part was dealing with management as they were not always consistent.
The most enjoyable part was making – more... sure the customers were satisfied as they would come back and ask just for me. – less

Computer Repair Technician (Former Employee), Toronto ON – April 6, 2013
Pros: lunch room, discounts
On a typical day at work I would troubleshoot and fix mostly desktop computers and laptops, I learned the basics about m ost electronic components and how to replace and re-install software on a new system, the hardest part of the job was the prioritizing of tasks, in order to achieve maximum productivity and customer satisfaction, the most enjoyable – more... part of the job was using the air compressor to clean out dust from different computers. – less
