FPInnovations is a world leader in the development of innovative applications and products based on next-generation pulps, papers and bioproducts.
FPInnovations works with a huge network of researchers and experts involved in every stage of the process, from fibre supply to the creation of new products. Together, they seek innovative, scientific solutions to help pulp and paper producers increase plant efficiency, cut operating costs and develop new markets.
Research in these fields is conducted under four main programs at FPInnovations.
The Market Pulp research program is intended to help pulp producers increase productivity in order to retain market share in traditional markets while increasing sales in growing market segments.
The Paper, Packaging and Consumer Products research program helps industry members and clients improve manufacturing efficiency and reduce production costs. It also works to develop new value-added products for increased market diversification.
The Biomaterials program's goal is to isolate and manufacture new cellulose-based structures, such as nanocrystalline cellulose (NCC), cellulose filaments (CF) and gels, the properties of which can improve an enormous range of existing products, including pulps, paper, packaging, composites, wood products, bioplastics, paints, inks, varnishes, textiles and cosmetics.
And the Biorefinery and Energy program aims to improve forest industry performance by identifying avenues leading to new sources of energy and new biochemical products, with a view to finding substitutes for petroleum derivatives. – less–ZoomInfo
