Focus Corporation, www.focus.ca, is a multi-discipline engineering, geomatics and planning consulting firm with offices in major centers throughout Western Canada. We are currently seeking a Project Manager - Municipal & Land Development, to join our team in Peace River, Alberta. As a leader within our Land Development / Municipal team, you will be a vital part of our ongoing success and growth, while working on projects that range from community subdivisions, to large urban condominium sites to complex utility and transportation infrastructure projects.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide an excellent level of client service by leading a support team to develop high-quality engineering designs on land development and municipal engineering projects. These can range from small rural community subdivisions, to large urban condominium sites to complex utility and infrastructure projects.
Monitor and respect client milestones and schedules to ensure projects are kept on track with any delays handled in an efficient and timely manner.
Track project budgets and clearly and efficiently communicate to internal management and client contacts budget status and scope changes, reducing the impact of any project overruns
Prepare and manage the creation of engineering designs to meet contractual obligations and meet/exceed local municipal standards, these primarily will include: concept development, preliminary and detail designs and submittal sets.
Conduct and manage the development of estimates, specifications, tender documents, and engineering reports.
Complete preliminary and detailed design on a variety of project components including residential road works, sanitary and storm systems, water distribution systems, storm water management, and lift stations.
Provide effective leadership and direction to other Engineers and/or Technicians and encourage a culture of team work and open communication
Liaise with field/inspection staff to ensure completed work meets or exceeds client expectations, municipal standards and business unit standards.
7+ years’ of progressive experience with land development and municipal infrastructure projects; including design, construction survey and inspection
A strong technical background in the civil, municipal or infrastructure sector
Good oral and written communication skills which is complimented with a keen eye for detail
The leadership skills to work well in a project team, providing technical direction and mentorship to junior team members
A solid commitment to exceptional client service
Proven success in setting and meeting performance and client standards
Have a propensity for growing, managing and developing the business
Seek challenge, have a high sense of urgency and are comfortable working within a broad range of activities
A track record of developing unique and creative engineering designs
Technical capabilities in AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D would be an asset, but not required.
Experience using environmentally progressive design techniques, LEED or otherwise, would also be an asset but not required.
Positive industry relationship in the Land Development business in the Peace River - Grande Prairie region is preferred, but not required
