Shift Leader (Former Employee), Channahon – May 24, 2014
Pros: half off a deli sandwich if you get your lunch
Cons: money hungry company who cares less about drivers and employees.
HORRIBLY UNDERSTAFFED WITH AN IMPOSSIBLE WORKLOAD. 1 CASHIER, 10 CUSTOMERS IN LINE, NO COFFEE IN THE DELI, NO CLEAN SHOWERS BECAUSE YOUR RINGING UP A LONG LINE OF CUSTOMERS THAT IS CONTINUOUS FOR HOURS. YOU HAVE TO WALK AWAY FROM ANGRY DRIVERS IN LINE TO MAKE COFFEE AND CLEAN SHOWERS FOR ANGRY DRIVERS WHO HAVE BEEN WAITING. A VICIOUS CYCLE EVERY DAY. – more... PILOT NEEDS TO INCREASE THEIR PAYROLL TO TAKE CARE OF THEIR DRIVERS NEEDS AND STOP WORRYING ABOUT MAKING SUCH A HUGE PROFIT OFF THESE PEOPLE. – less

Pros: the customers and coworkers
Cons: management, schedualing, and missing hours on paychecks.
The work was good but the management was poor and always changing and as such the scheduals was always being messed up. When it came to getting paid there was always hours missing from my paycheck. The coworkers and the customers were the best part of the job. My coworkers were fun and upbeat which helped pass the time by. The customers ranged from – more... your rude annoyed to delightful and conversable. – less
Pilot (Former Employee), Mount Sterling, Ky – May 22, 2014
Would consist of doing luandry for showers, clean bathrooms, sweep and mop retail area, and other duties as needed. Management was really good, co-workers were awesome and was not hard to work with anyone. Keeping up on everything because it has as much traffic as an airport bathroom. Just working there was good loved the management and coworkers made – more... it worth going to work everyday. – less
Fast pace job, always something to do. Great work experience.
Cashier (Former Employee), Huntsville, TX – May 7, 2014
Pros: loved the graveyard shift.
Cons: i didn't get to stay on the shift i got hired for.
I usually worked graveyard shift so it wasn't so busy when I first went in on week days. There was always something to get done such as cleaning the grill and coffee pots, and making sure both stayed full. Flying J is a truck stop and it was the first truck stop that I had worked at. I enjoyed it until they switched me to day shift all of a sudden. – more... The hardest part was having so many people come in at once and being the only person in the front to check them out. They would complain but the manager was busy so I checked them out as fast as possible. One of my co-wokers would always come in late. It was the one that was suppose to relieve me. The most enjoyable part of the job is that It never interfered with my home life. – less
Customer Service (Former Employee), Dallas, TX – April 28, 2014
I learned from Flying J that Body Language is everything and even when your having a bad put a smile and it will literally go away.. Your job and Home are two different places you can't act a certain way because of what happen at home Let it go and get to work
On your feet kind of job with different tasks each day
Cashier (Former Employee), San Antonio, FL – March 27, 2014
Pros: great starting ground for those who are fast learners
Cons: i don't remember any benefits, but the company has changed since i worked there.
I worked in the C-Store side. Each day I worked there, I was assigned to a different task from small to large. This, being my first job, I loved learning how much I want a career that provided me this kind of work environment. I had loved being given a different task that I could complete within my shift's allotted time each day. The crew was friendly – more... and the GM I had at the time was really nice which made me not as nervous. The hardest part of the job would definitely have to be customer service. This is because of such the variety of people that I would aid, I wouldn't know the needs I would need to meet. Some of them were none of my control but some were easy as pie! The most enjoyable part of the job was having a team of people teach me everything I needed to know which gave me a great outlook on work. This caused me to have a love for my job rather than only doing my tasks for the paycheck. Which in-turn, caused my tasks to be finished with my best effort rather than what I felt like doing. – less
