Typical Major EPC Firm
Associate Project Controls Specialist III (Field) (Former Employee), Raleigh, NC – March 1, 2013
Pros: top epc firm
Cons: poor career development, compensation, mentoring, management
Although Fluor is one of the leaders in their industry and ranked highly amongst their peers according to ENR, that does not automatically make them a great place to work. Like any EPC firm, when they have numerous projects...career growth and compensation is good. When the economy is down, those things virtually go away. Not very good at long term – more... planning for sustainability. Very poor work life balance to the point that some would say they expect you to prioritize them over family. Career development and training is virtually non-existent as well as mentoring. Co-workers are great but management is average at best. That being said, you will learn a lot about the Engineering & Construction industry working for them...they are one of the best at doing what they do. – less

Making sure each task that has been provided is schedule /coordinated allocated departments to ensure tasks are met in a timely manner and that their (Client) priorities are meet. Ensure all the appropriate documents authorizing work that is to be conducted have been approved and authorized by the appropriate Trade department.
I learned to be a self-starter – more... with the proven ability to prioritize and manage projects in a busy, fast-paced, multitasking environment
Exceptional people skills; understands the importance of diplomacy and how a good working relationship with co- workers and others in turn makesour job and the atomosphere a contractual obligations reasonably easier to accomplish our job – less

Logistics Coordinator (Former Employee), Shank- Afghanistan – February 21, 2013
I gained a good experience on working with different people from all over the world. I've learned a lot of experience in a project and I learned to deal with living in a war zone. I also gained experience in the department of generators which was my job. The management and other colleagues were kind and professional people, even though no one is perfect. – more... The hardest part of my job was when I couldn't reach to fulfill the job targets, because of the difficult situation in a war zone and the best part of the work was then when I could do my job nicely without interference from outside. – less
