PURPOSE:
Under general direction, the Shop Supervisor oversees shop function, assets, completes work activities, vehicle preventative maintenance, vehicle repairs and general building maintenance, ensuring compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Schedule, supervise and completes shop activities to ensure maximum productivity through a fleet management program.
Makes recommendations and obtain quotations for facility upgrades for the annual capital budgeting process. Participates in setting shop budget and conducts monthly reviews with Operations Manager to ensure goals are being met and discuss variances to plan.
Ensure branch fleet is maintained to government and company requirements.
Orders parts, supplies, and subcontract work including quarterly physical inventory.
Maintains company facilities in a clean, safe and environmentally sound manner.
Manage, hire and supervise competent staff of mechanics.
Completes of Brake, Safety and PM inspections.
Monthly reporting to the Regional Maintenance Manager.
Prepares and participates in yearly shop and environmental audits as scheduled.
Conducts monthly maintenance staff meetings.
Participates in company provided educational programs to ensure compliance with all aspects of health, safety and environmental regulations.
EDUCATION:
Grade 12 and valid mechanics license with diesel experience and/or endorsement
EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE:
Heavy duty mechanic or automotive mechanic certification or equivalent qualifications.
Supervisory or fleet management experience preferred but not necessary.
Knowledge of fleet maintenance system an asset.
Most have strong communication, organizational skills and management skills.
Excellent computer skills.
COMPENSATION:
Hourly rate between $30.00 and $36.00 per hour, (Salary), depending on experience with company sponsored benefit and RRSP program
