Finance Clerk (Former Employee) – Edmonton, AB – 19 April 2017
FIRMA was a wonderful place to work. At the core of the culture was employee satisfaction. There was a myriad of things the company provided or organized on a regular basis to give back to the people who work for them and to foster a sense of cohesiveness amongst the many different departments. Within each department as well these types of activities took place to build better connections with the people you worked closely with.
The only downfalls were a lack of ability to move up within my own department unless someone in those more advanced positions were to leave, and the compensation was a bit low. The low pay was offset by the added perks and rewards programs available but it definitely impacted my decision to leave.
Potlucks, half-fridays once per month, beer and snacks at 3:00 on the first Friday of the month, huge rewards program, yearly bonuses, huge Christmas party with free taxi voucher, catered summer event, many opportunities to volunteer w/charities, themed holiday events, hour paid lunch
low end for pay, difficult to advance in some departments
Business Development Executive (Current Employee) – Montréal, QC – 9 April 2016
Here's is an employer who knows how to do the "little things" that make all the difference. It's not just about the free coffee. For example, the company proposes weekly contests that include prizes like half-Fridays off, free lunch, etc. It is an exceptional morale booster whilst aiding the employer to attain its sales goals; a suitable and effective win-win.
Also, company management is awesome and very accessible. Combined with a laid-back atmosphere (including a non-formal dress code) and you get an employer that doesn't drain the life out of its employees despite pushing them hard.
In short, it is fun to work there and I look forward to working every day (even Mondays).
