This is a full time temporary position for a duration of 3 months, with the opportunity to be extended.
This role is responsible for driving direct and indirect cost savings through improved purchasing practices, programs and procedures in a very dynamic service business.
Negotiation and purchase of all commodities such as valves, pumps, instruments, electrical control panels, consumables, 3rd party services and other miscellaneous mechanical and electrical components; Annual Cost Reduction Programs – Develop and execute a strategic plan to manage the total spend of all commodities and drive continual cost reduction;
Annual Supply Agreements - Negotiate and implement long term agreements for commonly purchased materials/parts/services. Utilize fixed pricing agreements/blanket orders that have been negotiated to cover materials/parts/services that are commonly purchased;
Margin Enhancement - Support the business by meeting or exceeding cost reduction targets as established by Management;
Commodity Strategies – Lead or support other Commodity Buyers to consolidate multiple business center discretionary volumes and use this leverage to negotiate further cost reductions on specific commodities;
Procurement Processes – Assist in developing and comply with Company and Procurement policies, procedures and work instructions. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives;
Value Analysis Programs - Engage other business disciplines and vendors to develop methods of cost reduction through the use of new materials and designs;
Supplier Management – Ensure that suppliers are being evaluated on their performance and when required they are committed to and making improvements;
Reviews requisitions for completeness to ensure items quoted match requisitions released;
Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with receiving inspection, users, vendors and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action;
Maintains procurement records such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories;
Maintains Materials Budgets and Margin Enhancement sheet;
Has the ability to understand and prioritize the workload;
Attend all required meetings to support requirements;
Develop RFP's and RFQ's to support specifications and business requirements and use an RFP log to track these items;
Continually source alternative suppliers for lower cost and/or better quality;
Resolve invoice discrepancies;
Interviews, recommends and selects vendors/suppliers using an established supplier qualification process. Responsible for ensuring that all suppliers used by the business are able to meet any specified requirements and that they are reputable and financially sound companies;
Involvement to ensure that the project proposals are comprised of the correct suppliers and subcontractors. Ensure the most accurate and up to date material costs are communicated across the business. Project estimates must have the most competitive material costs available;
Ensure that a verification of budget cost with proposed purchase cost is done using a Bid Analysis or a Total Cost Analysis before any commitments are made to suppliers. As per established policy, obtain approval prior to making any commitments; and
Responsible to expedite suppliers and subcontractors for compliance to purchase orders and on time deliveries of all submittals, parts, equipment and services that are required to satisfy very demanding customer schedules.
BS / BA in Business or Supply Chain with related purchasing experience; and
Prefer CPP or CPM certification or commitment to pursue on a yearly basis.
5 to 7 years of experience procuring valves, pumps, instruments, electrical control panels, services and other miscellaneous mechanical and electrical components;
Demonstrates and applies a broad knowledge of field of specialization through successful completion of moderately semi-complex assignments;
Successfully applies semi-complex knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of particular area of specialization;
Demonstrates knowledge of organization business practices and issues;
Typically 5-7 years of successful experience in related field and successful demonstration of Key Responsibilities and Knowledge as presented above; and
Advanced degree MAY be substituted for experience, where applicable.
Travel to other Company locations may be required from time to time.
