Duration
This is a full time temporary position from December 2013 - March 2014.

Purpose
The Mechanical Designer will bring effective technical and practical design and drafting skills in the relevant discipline, and able to consistently deliver quality, accurate and timely work to FilterBoxx and its clients. This person will be competent in the use of relevant software such as MS Office Suite and 3D design software, AutoCAD and AutoPlant. We are looking for experienced designers and welcome applications from EIT engineers with mechanical background.

Responsibilities
Preparation of piping drawings including P&IDs, plot plans, equipment layouts and general arrangement drawings using 2D & 3D CAD Software
Update drawings as required during the design process, ensuring they are checked, approved, and filed in accordance with the relevant quality system procedure
Develop and check drawings and related project documents
Ensure that work conforms to applicable codes and standards
3D design and detailing complicated new component from previous designs based on engineering instructions, government, and regulatory codes
Producing drawings in a complicated field with minimum technical guidance, coordinating complicated work between the field and office
In accordance with general policy exercises independent judgment in the planning, organization and completion of assignments; makes general recommendations on the utilization of new drafting techniques
Perform design and drafting assignments on projects that meet project requirements on time and within budget
Communicate effectively with the discipline team and project stakeholders
Identify issues and problems, develop appropriate solutions, and ask for assistance if required

Qualifications
Education
Minimum 2 year engineering technical degree
Minimum 3 years’ experience in preparing detailed layout drawings, piping drawings and general arrangements

Skills
Fundamental understanding of drawings and design practices.
Understanding and capability to interpret engineering specifications and plans.
Proficient knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD platforms required.
PC literate including Microsoft office software package.
Strong interpersonal skills with passion for providing high level of customer service and satisfaction.
Effective communication skills, both oral and written, are required.
Multitasking; highly organized.

Work Environment
Primarily will be based in an office environment, travel to client work sites/camps will be required from time to time.

Travel Required
Occasional travel to remote site locations is required.
