The Process Services Commissioning Representative (PSCR) will assist in tasks from system Fabrication Completion to Operations Turnover and will provide support for various Clients through subsequent Process Service requests. Such systems will include:
Mixed Media Filters (MMF), Ion Exchange
Membrane Systems, such as Ultrafiltration, Nanofiltration and Reverse Osmosis
Disinfection systems
Chemical Metering Systems
Clarification Systems, such as DAF’s and IGF’s
Conventional Waste Water Treatment
Process/Industrial Water Treatment
Including power generation equipment, general utilities
Process Control Systems (i.e. PLC)
And other customized water treatment systems and applications

This position incorporates hands on skills and provides exposure to a wide variety of systems across multiple industrial sectors. It requires strong analytical capacity and problem solving skills and the ability to go to site and ‘get it done’.

The goal of this position is to provide onsite coordination during all aspects of the plant commissioning process. The PSCR works with the Process Services Team, Contractors, Vendors, Engineering and Project Managers to insure all process services tasks are completed on time and on budget. The PSCR will also anticipate potential issues and work towards their successful resolution, improving plant operation, mitigating safety concerns and reducing corporate financial exposure.

Safety Sensitive Position
This role is subject to drug and alcohol testing as required by the Company. Please refer to our Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace Policy for more details.

Wear the proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times, especially when handling chemicals, such as Chlorine, Strong Acids and Bases, around electrical equipment and while working at heights
Act as technical consultant and liaison with customer management, internal technical counterparts including other process services rep, PS managers, Environmental Health and Safety, Sales, Project Management, Engineering, Logistics, third party contractors, plant operations and equipment vendors on a daily basis
Lead on-site project coordination during wet testing, system installation, mechanical/electrical start-up, commissioning, client handover and system troubleshooting
Manage onsite mark ups and redlining of Process Flow Diagram (PFDs), Piping and Instrumentation Drawing (P&IDs), mechanical and electrical schematics and control documentation
Troubleshoot problems using a combination of technical knowledge, analytical reasoning, access to specialists (internal and external) and through practical trials, both onsite and remotely
Configure, update and program Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), touch-screens, control panels, Motor Control Centers (MCC) and other related system control/programming equipment and software
Confidently differentiate between electrical and PLC code issues and use online PLC code to assist during controls testing and system troubleshooting
Develop an understanding of the following:
Various water process and treatment designs
Mechanical and electrical installations
Process instrumentation and general system controls
Environmental permitting and associated regulations
Use and create spreadsheets to facilitate work, make trending graphs, calculate equipment run lengths and throughput, interpret data and make necessary process adjustments. Notify appropriate process/mechanical/electrical personnel when system changes are made and upload information into a common company server library as required.
Participate in and/or perform system checks, such as a membrane inspection and cleaning, equipment maintenance and change outs (i.e. motors, pumps, etc.) and filter operation (backwashing, media replacement, reject analysis)
Install, calibrate and service water treatment equipment (chemical metering, analytical and process instrumentation, etc.)
Perform water analysis and/or collect samples for preparation, labeling and shipment to designated laboratory for analysis (i.e. system start ups and performance tests)
Train operations staff, customers and internal resources on relevant theory and proper system operation and maintenance, including formal classroom sessions and on the job training
Work with management to improve and optimize internal structures as this new and dynamic team grows, while also searching for potential sales and service opportunities, such as Spare Parts, System Expansions, Future needs, etc.
Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams in wastewater and water infrastructure projects including process application engineers, project managers, discipline leads, drafting technicians, purchasing, and document control
Act as a leader by promoting a professional work environment at all times, including proper housekeeping and tools management, being proactive towards safety and training and always looking for ways to reduce costs and increase effectiveness
Support and/or lead other Process Services activities (Field Service, Project Coordination, Technical Support) as needed
Support Sales & Marketing in the identification of new potential jobs and sales opportunities and, if needed, during the bidding process
Administrative responsibilities may include:
System operation reports (charts / graphs) and log sheets
Operations Audits and Trip Reports
Work Orders and Site Sign-off
General meetings
Maintenance / Calibration log sheets
Developing and Maintaining System Operating Procedures
Safety (Job Hazard Assessments, FLRAs, toolbox meetings, etc.)
Expense Reports and Timesheets
Lessons Learned

College, University, Technical or Trade School degree in engineering / technically related field or equivalent work experience in the industry
Ability and willingness to travel, be on call and perform frequent lifting and manual work
Ability to think on your feet, troubleshoot and execute
Ability to work independently on remote sites for extended periods and with varied shifts
Effective communication skills, both written and oral
Must possess a valid driver's license and clean driving record

**Experience in PLC Programming and Electrical Troubleshooting are highly desired characteristics for this position

Work Environment
Office, fabrication shop and field based environments. Travel to client work sites/camps will be required.

Travel Required
The position is largely project-based, meaning that the schedule is not very predictable:
At some times (during plant startups), the position will be almost entirely field based for extended periods and may even require shift work
At other times (wet testing, controls testing, design reviews, etc.), the position will be largely office-based in either Calgary or Stony Plain, Alberta
Occasional travel for other tasks (field service, technical support, sales assistance) will also be required on an infrequent basis
