WORST JOB EVER
Center Consultant (Former Employee), Dallas, TXSeptember 17, 2014
Pros: none!!!!!!!!
Cons: lunches, pay rate, management, work load, understaffed, coworkers, favoritism, customers
I would not recommend FedEx Office to my worst enemy!
They have you in the center for 5 or 6 hours a day BY YOURSELF because the stores are always understaffed because no one stays at this job long and you steadily have customers coming in with 5 people in line in the shipping area and 8 people in line on the production side and you have to run back – more... between both sides taking care of ANGRY, UNAPPRECIATIVE customers along with the phone ringing with customers calling about their packages. FedEx Office customers are the WORST! It was defiantly the worst job!
Your coworkers leave without telling you what jobs needs to be done/finish so when the customer comes in or calls they are mad at you because the order isn't done right or not done AT ALL. FedEx Office picks the worst people to be a manger. They pick children fresh out of high school that doesn't know anything about running a business AND THE PAY RATE IS A JOKE! THE PAY RATE DOSENT EVEN COMPARE TO THE AMOUNT OF WORK YOU WILL BE DOING AT FEDEX OFFICE!!!! I DONT THINK WORDS CAN DESCRIBE HOW HAPPY I AM TO BE AWAY FROM FEDEX OFFICE!
STAY AWAY! – less

Creative projects streamlined into one-note tasks
Center Specialist (Former Employee), Bellevue, WASeptember 15, 2014
The creative space of printing projects open to the public makes for jobs that are both diverse and fun to accomplish. Old school managers (from the Kinko's days) allowed the employees to wear multiple hats, as there are a lot different roles to play. New managers believe in following the FedEx company policy of working like the assembly line of shipping – more... a package, where the employees do one job only all day long. – less

Poor management
Lead Production Specialist (Former Employee), New York, NYSeptember 12, 2014
Pros: locations worldwide (ability to transfer)
Cons: expectations constantly changing, lots of turnover, 1/2 lunch, standing almost entire shift
FedEx Office formerly Kinko's is a constantly changing environment. The company doesn't seem to know what to do with this arm of the business. Management is lacking and therefore team moral is often low. The demands (stress) placed on employees for the pay scale are absurd. There is no such thing as seniority giving the company years of service doesn't – more... place you in any better position. Shift changes, position changes it doesn't matter if the company sees fit to move you around they will. This company needs a major overhaul or it won't be around much longer. – less

Great culture
Business Center Manager (Former Employee), Vancouver, WASeptember 4, 2014
Pros: sense of accomplishment, compensation, and job culture.
Cons: ambush or intimidation managment, and the lack of continuity between district managers leadership types.
A typical work day as a Business Center Manager will spend with only 20% of your day being allotted to actual managerial duties, even though it will require far more. The rest of your duties will be as a team member working the counters either in printing or shipping. This job will stress you but it will give you great time managemnt skills. District – more... managers and thier tactics and styles vary. Watch out for the ambush kind. The do seem to be quite prevalent. You may get one that is inspiring or you may get one that bases everything off of intimidation, so be mindful. Generally most of the other BSM like yourself are there for you. The hardest part of the job is time management. The best is that you get to help alot of really fun customers complete project so far out side their scope that you leave every day knowing you accompished something good. – less

Not the best place to work
Manager (Former Employee), Bay AreaAugust 28, 2014
Pros: it will pay some bills
Cons: too many to list. benefits suck
I worked for this company for over 5 plus years. It's not the best place to work. Management doesn't care about what the employee think. Lots of dishonest district managers who will do anything to get ahead. High turn overs and lots of favoritism. Maybe I just was unlucky with the years I spend with the company and the 14 managers I went through.

PUD Courier (Current Employee), Silver Spring, MDAugust 28, 2014
Pros: benefits
Cons: incorrect information
A typical day at work begins with me coming in about 10 mins early before my shift and getting all of my materials i'll need for the day. i log into my kronos, sign in, and then check my email as my route is downloaded. My partner is typically doing the same thing i do to prepare for our day. Once logged into the phone we begin our delivery route until – more... the end of the shift – less

Sadly, typical corporate america overlooking the people purely focused on money
Assistant Manager (Current Employee), CaliforniaAugust 27, 2014
Pros: free lunches from the "good managers" stable source of income
Cons: overall moral, lack of training, treat you like you are a total robot
I have worked for this company for four years. During these four years, I was lucky to have a met a few awesome people along the way to help me get to where I wanted to be (Assistant Manager) All of those people are long gone now.
The higher ups have worked very hard to keep my pay at the lowest possible. Thank you for "the title", but team members – more... who do nothing make more money than I do.
It has been very sad to watch so many managers get thrown to the curb over innocent mistakes. People who put their entire life and every second of strength to work their very hardest.
Fed Ex truly does not care about YOU. They only care about the money. You can treat your team members like robots and they constantly urge you to write everyone up as much as possible.
They walk in to your store and say, "You didn't clean that right" and they walk out because if you cant fix a sign or clean it right, then meeting the people who do ALL THE WORK isn't worth their time. – less

Negative environment
Production Coordinator (Former Employee), CAAugust 24, 2014
Pros: having a job
Cons: majority of the time was spent learning, and then getting written up for making mistakes you were unaware of
A lot of favoritism went on while I worked there. As a team member I was handed down tasks from my supervisor, that was handed down from assistant managers'. Also a lot of micro-managing, if you screw up at any point, anything you do wrong goes in your file. You pretty much have to be flawless to get a raise.

fun job where you can be yourself
Retail Consultant (Former Employee), Tampa, FLAugust 21, 2014
Pros: fun place overall, customers are cool, busy location
Cons: pay, cowokers
FedEx is a good company to work for, pay is not great but at least they don't lay you off. You start your day getting your registers and greeting customer as they walk in the door, help them with what they need. Management should care a little more about the employees and stop avoiding customers which they usually do in many occasions. As for coworkers – more... they need to smile more and be more professional which most aren't. Hardest part of the jobs is dealing with co workers, the most enjoyable part is helping costumers, especially the ones in great need. – less

Senior Professional Recruiter (Current Employee), Dallas, TXAugust 20, 2014
Pros: free parking, free gym memberships, flexible hours, remote office
Cons: healthcare
A typical day for me is being able to make the hiring process as seamless as possible to the business. While consulting and informing the business and my management team of any obstacles, and we work together to come up with a plan that will be within the company guidelines as well as be beneficial to the business. My word is my bond and when I say – more... I will get something done for them, they are confident that I will get it done. The hardest part of the job for me is making sure to take time out for myself because I truly enjoy what I do. I love making each and every offer to each candidate. – less

Pros: relaxing place to work, quiet place, holiday pay, sick pay, personal pay, vacation pay, discounts on shipping
Cons: daily work shifts change very frequently
FedEx office was great for me because I had my own office along with my own computer had access to outlook and many great Microsoft software to be a great sales consultant. I also build report with my costumers followed up on expensive orders, making sure the clients presentation was outstanding and exactly what they were looking for doing frequent – more... visits for any future projects they might have. – less
