TECHNICIAN | Biorefinery & Energy Program
FPInnovations is among the world’s largest private, non-profit research centers working in forest research. The organization helps the Canadian forest industry to develop pathbreaking solutions based on the unique attributes of Canada’s forest resources, favoring a sustainable development approach and taking full advantage of the industry’s considerable scientific, technological and commercial capital.
FPInnovations, Pulp, Paper and Bioproducts Division, is presently seeking a technician to work in the Biorefinery & Energy Program at its Pointe-Claire, QC facilities.
We are looking for a candidate who preferably has a background in the chemical, thermal, and mechanical characterization of polymers as well as chemical separations technology. The candidate must demonstrate autonomy, dynamism, leadership, good communications skills, as well as personal integrity, honesty, reliability, and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support to researchers by running experiments at the laboratory, pilot and demonstration plant levels. He/she is expected to be able to perform numerous tasks in a professional and efficient manner.
The candidate will participate in research and development projects and contracts. He/she will assist researchers in tasks relating to black liquor characterization, process ability and combustibility, the recovery of kraft mill by-products (e.g. hemicellulose, lignin, methanol, tall oil) and new bio-product development. In parallel, he/she will participate in other projects relating to chemical pulping and recovery.
