Operations Training Supervisor (Former Employee) –  Fort McMurray, AB23 July 2016
Progressed through the the company quickly with hard work and motivation to learn new roles. Met lots of good people who helped strengthen the company's safety record. Benefits were really good, and HR was generally on top of issues quickly.

Operations Manager/General Manager (Former Employee) –  Brampton, ON12 June 2016
Exel gave me a lot of opportunity to learn and advance my career. Over time the operations phylosophy has changed and the operations have gone from a lean mean operation that treated associates and supplier fairly but demanded quality services to an operation that is multi layered with additional FAT and has little or no accountability.
Pros
Lots of opportunity if you were willing to commit.

Poor management and training.
material handler (Former Employee) –  Kearl Lake20 August 2015
Only got 1 hour training on each peice of MHE. If you are being treated poorly at work, do not go to management as they will simply fire you instead of actually dealing with the problem. If you feel unsafe at work, they will take as long as possible to find a solution. Upper management is impossible to get ahold of in Harrassment situations. The salary is not worth it.
Pros
okay salary, free coffee
Cons
harrassment not dealt with properly, long work hours, poor communication and work culture, no AC even though they said there is

Worker (Former Employee) –  Brampton, ON10 May 2016
Heavy workload, seven hour shifts with shifty pay. Long days and co-workers yelling at you to work faster. you get a good workout from lifting all the boxes, but the continuous nagging to work faster doesn't help.
Pros
Close to A&W
Cons
Long Hours

Great employee engagement
Warehouse Associate (Current Employee) –  Brampton, ON29 January 2016
Great place of employment management was there when needed to answer any questions related to work. Company would provide lunches and dinners when working on weekends or additional overtime. Did not like making up time during weekend for 40 hour week would be interrupted due to lack of work. This resulted in working weekends but was optional for most employees. The system would drop a number of parcels to be picked on a daily bases most drops were on Tuesday to Thursday leaving Monday and Friday for voluntary time off. The hardest part was training individuals very high turn around rate. Individuals woulds stay for training and work a day or two after and hour of training for each day. This placed pressure on getting orders to be completed with time permitted. The job was great for voluntary work and proved effective in go green initiatives. The consistent meetings was great way to keep employee engaged.
Pros
Employee Opinion Survey yearly, Pot Lucks
Cons
Voluntary Time off

Client Shell provides close supervision but little mentoring. Turnover rate high and caused concern among employees about job security.

Reciever (Former Employee) –  Calgary, AB7 February 2016
The work was easy if you are capable of lifting heavy items, and the work was consistent. The people were from allover the world and got along well.

The management was not the best at planing, or keeping everyone doing their jobs. Sometimes seemed like they didn't much care what their employees were doing. But they were always easy to talk to and get along with, and I believe most of their problems stem from lack of experience.
Pros
easy work, regular overtime
Cons
poorly managed

A typical day at Excel is filled with non-stop hard work. I learned how to work at a fast pace due to the fact that I was working on a assembly line. The hardest part of the job was most definitely keeping up with the pace.

Supervisor (Former Employee) –  Toronto29 August 2012
Past Salary Employee/ Supervisor Canada-not a good blend of work and family time. very demanding, and do not try to calculate an hourly wage if you factor in all the late nights, weekend work. You will be disappointed
However, you can really develope some marketable skills for when you leave. Canadian operations has very little growth so opportunities for advancment is very very limited.
Pros
will learn marketable skills at the clerical or other office level
Cons
very demanding when you are salary, long work days and weekend work in order to keep up with customer demand
