About Excel Society
The Excel Society provides support and advocacy for individuals with mental, physical and developmental disabilities in both Edmonton and Calgary. Excel's support comes in the form of a variety of choices in accommodation, programs of vocational assistance and recreation.
Excel is structured into two Community Support Service divisions. Clients needing – more... Developmental Disability Supports and receiving staff funding through Persons with Developmental Disabilities, Northwest Territories, Nunavut or Alberta Children's Services are served through Community Support Services Division 1. Clients needing Mental Health / Medical Supports and receiving staff funding through Alberta Health Services are served through Community Support Services Division 2. These funding sources support direct client care and skill training. Excel funds costs for facility capital, operations, administration and maintenance through room and board, program fees and with support from the community.
In addition The Excel Society operates the Excel Academy and Kedros Furniture. The Academy provides certificate training programs to staff and the public. Kedros provides a broad range of day care and nursery school furniture for sale and furniture reupholstery with profits going back to the Society.
Some 400 staff members assist our clients to be active, contributing members of their community to the best of their abilities. Excel's trained staff support clients by accessing and overcoming individual and environmental barriers to community integration.
Excel provides a range of vocational training and supports including specialized small business training. We offer training/employment opportunities to people with disabilities who are committed to their independence.
