The Strategic Buyer reporting to the Director, Global Supply Chain, supports the Supply Chain department with the sourcing and analytical support of the RFX processes i.e. Request for Information (RFI), Request For Proposal (RFP), and / or Request For Quote (RFQ). Core duties also include input into the Global Supply Chain initiatives relative to RFX development, roll out, analysis, implementation, compliance and representative Key Performance Indicators.
Certification and/or Courses/Seminars supporting materials management and innovations in the profession.
Formal education with Mechanical, Electro-Mechanical and Electronics components. I.e. PWB, Metal, Plastics, Electronics Components, Wire and Cable
Minimum 5-7 years ODM/OEM/CEM experience
5 year direct materials experience preferably in an OEM/ODM/CEM environment sourcing, negotiating, purchasing and managing electro-mechanical, electronic components and assemblies.
Excellent understanding and use of the MS Office Professional 2010 software package (Word, Excel and Outlook, Access and Visio). Must be able to perform V-Lookup, create pivot tables.
Working knowledge of computerized inventory control systems, previous exposure to a Material Resources Planning (MRP/ERP) system. Visual Manufacturing preferred. SAP, Oracle acceptable.
Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electro-mechanical drawings.
3 years’ direct experience working with RFQ
International Supply Chain Experience 3-5 years international Buying experience.
Solid understanding of Tariff and NAFTA requirements
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) are required in dealing with vendors as well as all levels of staff.
Professional approach in business dealings as well as appropriate negotiation skills.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities in understanding cost and efficiency performance requirements.
Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
Excellent working, practical and industry experience with quality standards and their application to the supplier base - TS16949 preferred
Excellent working, practical and industry experience with modern purchasing methods and a creative thinker. I.e. EDI, Kan/Ban/Bar Coding technologies
Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail is required to prioritize and manage a variety of tasks in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
Excellent understanding and practical knowledge of current Supplier Management disciplines
