The role of the Test Lab Technician is to provide engineering and manufacturing support by building and testing prototypes of new equipment, assisting in test and troubleshooting of prototypes of new equipment, testing and preparing samples for customers, and participating in design changes and reviews.
Minimum 3-Year Technologist Diploma in an Electronics Engineering Technology Program from a recognized post-secondary institution.
Minimum 5 years experience and familiarity with electronic circuit construction techniques, PCB repair and component replacement.
Sound knowledge of current electronic and electrical safety practices.
Strong manufacturing background, preferably in high volume electronics.
Experience in engineering support through building of prototypes of electronic equipment, test, troubleshooting and participation in design changes and reviews.
Highly proficient in testing and troubleshooting electronic circuits at the board and component level.
Previous experience testing and troubleshooting equipment and building prototypes.
Experience with electronic test equipment and initiating recommendations towards the improvement of product and product test equipment.
Good working knowledge and understanding of manufacturing processes and all types of electronic components.
Understanding of Agency Standards and Regulations for the Manufacturing industry.
Solid analytical and problem solving skills enabling the incumbent to tackle technical problems.
Excellent hand-soldering capabilities are a mandatory requirement of this position.
Ability to read, understand and execute customer and industry test specifications.
Basic understanding of software packages in regard to microcontrollers.
Strong PC skills and proficiency in the use of MS Office (Word & Excel) software package and e-mail systems for the generation of reports.
