This firm makes e-mail marketing easy. Epsilon Data Management is a leading provider of direct marketing and customer relationship management services. As one of the world's largest permission-based email marketing providers, it sends more than 40 billion e-mails each year and helps develop database marketing and consumer loyalty programs, as well as marketing communications for traditional direct mail and interactive media campaigns. In addition, Epsilon offers data collection and analysis and database integration services. It is a unit of credit and transaction services provider Alliance Data Systems and serves more than 2,500 clients operating through 25 offices in Asia, Australia, Europe, and North America.
Substantial growth seems to be on the horizon for Epsilon. In mid-2011, Epsilon's parent acquired Aspen Marketing Services, one of the largest privately held marketing services firms in the country, for around $345 million. Projected to generate $250 million in revenue in 2011, Aspen offers a full range of digital and direct marketing services and expertise in customer acquisition and retention campaigns. Alliance Data combined Aspen with Epsilon (specifically its Purple@Epsilon brand) to form a marketing services powerhouse. The deal gave Epsilon stronger expertise in the automotive and telecommunications verticals and allowed it to offer a more robust range of marketing services.
The deal with Aspen came several months after Epsilon suffered a widespread online data breach. Hackers managed to crack its system and gain access to millions of customer names and emails. More than 40 companies' email databases were impacted by the breach, one of the largest in history.
Epsilon is organized across several groups, including Purple@Epsilon (and Aspen Marketing), Marketing Technology, Email & Digital Solutions, and Epsilon Targeting. Epsilon launched Purple@Epsilon in 2008 as an integrated permission-based e-mail marketing agency. – less
