The glass ceiling
Senior Software Support Representative (Current Employee), Yardley, PAJune 10, 2013
With little to no room for growth and an oppressive work environment, Epicor (formerly Activant, formerly Prophet 21), can't be bothered to look at the individual departments within support to fix the major issues there.

Since all managerial positions within the department are taken and reps are given no direction or options to leave, you are stuck – more... doing the same job, years on end, for a team of managers who have been doing the same job for a long time as well...who not only appear burnt out, but frustrated with their own positions.

Turnover for a once strong Prophet 21 company employee base has increased drastically since being purchased by Activant and then Epicor, and it's not entirely due to the idea of a "large company mismanaging a smaller one."

It's time for a house cleaning, and as all of the talent and experience leaves, perhaps the company will understand that this is due to poor management. – less

Very Low Low Pay!!!
Administrative (Former Employee), Austin, TXApril 12, 2013
Pros: learning software
Cons: low pay, very micro managed
This company has a very low pay scale for it's Austin employee's. They don't benchmark against their competitor;s VMWARE, Microsoft. They expect people to work hard for very little pay. Very micro managed by people with no business acumen.

Pros: good colleagues, opportunities to learn. free coffee and tea. bagles on friday!
Cons: very cliquey, advancement more to do with who you know and how much bootlicking you are willing to do!
The company does not care about anyone in the help desk!
High staff turnover.
A backstabbing upper management.
Insane emphasis on attendance and 'Calls Per Hour'.

A good short term, emergency fill-in, job.
Good for the desperate and unemployed.

Under-paid and work you to the bone
Retail Tech Support (Current Employee), Newburgh, NYJuly 9, 2012
Pros: breakfast friday mornings only
Cons: pay, benefits, hires temps, ac is always cranked
Good place to work until you're put onto a team where they expect you to know everything, but don't teach you anything. When you fight to learn, you do learn a bit but with one mess up they write you up. Also attendance is a big thing. They hire temp first and if you miss one day, you won't see a permanent position for a long time, no matter how many – more... calls a day you take. – less

Epicor is currently in a growing phase having acquired a number of companies over the past couple of years. This has led to mergers and integration that have been a little rocky. Overall the company is good to work for and generally gives employees room to be human.
