SUMMARY

The Industrial and Mechanical Process Technician will work in a research and development setting among a team of experienced colleagues. The Technician's assignment will be to take part in work to improve equipment and operational processes, and to support the technical modifications necessary for the technological advancement of a biofuel manufacturing pilot plant at the leading edge of technology.

RESPONSIBILITIES

-Supporting the installation, assembly, maintenance and troubleshooting of process equipment in the pilot plant
-Assembling parts and installing piping systems
-Activating and deactivating the equipment used in the course of a process to allow for its operation and maintenance
-Regulating flows, temperatures, pressures and levels in order to optimize production, and/or troubleshooting any system inconsistencies or malfunctions
-Overseeing the operation of exchangers, mechanical systems, heat systems, pumps and compressors
-Carrying out preventive maintenance and minor repairs of machinery; fabricating the parts necessary for the overhaul, maintenance or assembly of machinery and equipment
-Reporting the slightest equipment operation or safety process malfunction discovered in the course of inspection rounds
-Responding to emergencies and solving any problems that may arise
-Ensuring that quality, safety and environmental rules and standards are observed in the workplace

EDUCATION

Diploma of collegial studies in industrial maintenance, mechanical engineering technology, chemical engineering and/or industrial processes

EXPERIENCE
Three (3) years' experience in a position with similar responsibilities

OTHER ABILITIES 

-Practical knowledge of the following items of equipment: pumps and compressors, distillation columns, reactors, valves, winches and hoisting equipment and power tools, as well as hydraulic, pneumatic and power transmission systems
-Theoretical and practical knowledge of the materials and equipment used in an industrial facility, as well as good familiarity with the codes and regulations particular to the field of mechanics
-Positive attitude with respect to change
-Capacity to successfully carry out a vast range of tasks, and facility for learning
-Motivation, determination to attain results, and willingness to accept challenges
-Ability to communicate clearly and forthrightly
-Good written and spoken communication skills in French and English
