The Plant Manager will join the Enerkem Team during the pre-commissioning stage and support the strategic and operational planning to facilitate a successful plant start up and sustained operations. With the mandate to produce 10 million gallons of methanol per year, the Plant Manager will be tasked with building and inspiring a strong team of operations, maintenance, engineering and business support functions to achieve stretch targets year-over year in EH&S, plant production, efficiency and reliability, along with personnel development and performance.
§ As a key member of the leadership team, work to define the company’s operational, production and overall strategic objectives and to plan, manage and carry out a course of action to achieve these objectives.
§ Through effective leadership and management, implement the organization’s business goals into the operations to ensure alignment and to achieve results.
§ Create a high performance environment through engaged employees, which is focussed on EH&S, plant production and reliability, control of spending, and continuous improvement of processes and people.
§ Prepare operating, maintenance, and CAPEX budgets, and control spending consistent with these budgets and plant performance expectations.
§ Establish and maintain a strong and effective relationship with City of Edmonton Site Leadership where Enerkem objectives are met and the plant remains positioned as a valued partner with the City of Edmonton.
Education background in Chemical Engineering with demonstrated career success in the petrochemical or refining industries.
§ Progressive plant management experience with a minimum of 10+ years of supervisory/management/leadership experience.
§ Working knowledge of the elements of Process Safety Management.
§ Thorough working knowledge of Quality Management System requirements (ISO 9000 series of standards) is an asset.
§ Knowledge of Six Sigma and Lean manufacturing principles is preferred.
