Is it possible to love a job? We think so. That’s why our team has been together so long. Sure, it could be the fun events we host every month, or the laughter overheard in the hallway every day, or even the values we all share like teamwork, humility, fun and commitment. But it could also be the challenge and joy of working for a software company that is really going somewhere. Yes, it’s possible to love a job, especially when it loves you right back.
We specialize in developing marine operations software, called Helm Marine Operations™, which is implemented in tugboat and barge companies across the world, and right at home here on Vancouver Island.
We seek relationships with customers and employees that are based on respect, hard work, transparency, teamwork, and a little fun, too. In our opinion, that’s what makes a great relationship. Our brand promise is user friendly, so we strive to make our software, service and culture reflect that promise. After all, if our software is hard to use and it’s no fun to work here, how can we expect to stay in business?
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Finance Administrator. The successful candidate will spend approximately 2.5 days a week managing bookkeeping tasks, such as generating weekly reports, have experience in managing Accounts Payables and Receivables, and will generate payroll. The other 2.5 days per week will be spent managing other clerical tasks and acting as an assistant for HR and Marketing departments. This is a great opportunity with plenty of variety for the right candidate. Now if that sounds like a slice of awesome to you, please send a resume with cover letter to us!
What is the role of the Finance Administrator at Edoc?
Working under the mentorship of the Controller, you will be managing various bookkeeping tasks, including the previous mentioned tasks, as well as vendor set up, new employee set-up, including benefits. What’s more you’ll be one of our culture mavens, ensuring that company events go off without a hitch, and that the world knows what a fantastic place Edoc is to work through your social media management and blog updates.
Who might this role fit?

You’ll have some bookkeeping experience, understand discretion, be meticulous with your work, and also have a “help out” gene that compels you to jump in and give assistance when it’s needed. When we meet you’ll be able to demonstrate some if not all of the following skills and attributes:
- Bookkeeping experience preferably with QuickBooks
- Payroll experience preferably with PayWorks
- Excellent knowledge of Excel and Word
