The successful candidate for this full-time (1.000 FTE), 10-month temporary position will provide emotional, behavioural and academic support to students who have severe mental health and behaviour disorders. Through collaborative partnerships with classroom teachers and other professionals, the Mental Health Support Worker is responsible for the implementation of recommendations from health and educational support services and reporting on intervention outcomes. Other job duties include assisting students with personal care and administration of medication.

Requirements: Degree in a related field; minimum of one year related experience in an educational or social services environment; training or experience in the areas of family violence, pediatric mental health and addictions; ability to apply verbal de-escalation techniques; and excellent communication skills.

Salary: $2,168.60 - $2,769.20 bi-weekly. An excellent benefits package is provided.

This position is term-definite to June 26, 2015 or the return of the incumbent, whichever occurs first.
