Our client is a Edmonton based medium sized business that will be seeking a Marketing Director to join our team. This is a dynamic, established business in the health and wellness industry.

The Marketing Director is responsible for development and execution of the company’s annual marketing plan based on the following five priorities:

  • Generate external traffic (prospects) through various advertising mediums (radio, outdoor, TV, web, social media, newspaper, etc.)
  • Develop programs and tools for generation of internal traffic
  • Promote program sales including registered programs, advertising sales and other services
  • Develop programs to increase customer retention
  • Operate the department in the most cost effective manner

The successful candidate must be exceedingly well organized, able to work under pressure, flexible, possess excellent judgment and have the ability to prioritize responsibilities in order to maximize resources and impact.


  • Coordination of advertising and promotional communications (internal & external) from the design and planning stage to print, audio or implementation
  • Ensure that all text copy is accurate and free of errors prior to final approval/run, that ads are run on the specified days including organizing scheduled changes to portable signs and orders all promotional advertising items
  • Organizing and promoting community events, promotions, donations and sponsorships and assisting our contractors in promoting their services
  • Overseeing all company social media
  • Maintenance and supervision of the company website
  • Develop and execute an online marketing strategy
  • Development and management of web projects to streamline operations
  • Production of monthly electronic newsletters and printed customer magazine
  • Work with the events manager - responsible for implementing local marketing initiatives
  • Working with the corporate sales manager in developing, marketing and promoting the corporate membership sales program
  • Auditing of competitor pricing structures and tracking of competitor advertising
  • Manage marketing campaigns and research using the companies computer systems
  • Research, order and track inventory used in clubs for referrals, promotions and sale
  • Manage the graphic designer
  • Analyze data in order to identify relevant new strategies and develop detailed action plans
  • Develop, monitor and update departmental budget
  • Attend weekly management meetings and reporting on upcoming marketing activities
  • Conduct monthly marketing audits


  • Post Secondary degree in marketing and 5+ years experience in related marketing experience
  • Experience in a Marketing Director or Manager role
  • Advanced knowledge in marketing analysis, expert knowledge in MS Excel


  • A self-starter with extremely high level of motivation, enthusiasm and ambition
  • Strong attention to detail - proactive, self-motivated, highly organized
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (especially proof reading)
  • Flexibility to work well independently as well as in a team
  • Ability to adhere to strict deadlines
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with enthusiasm
  • Proficient in all MS Office applications
