Edmonton Catholic Schools is a large urban school district whose mission is to provide a Catholic education that inspires students to learn and that prepares them to live fully and to serve God in one another. The job functions as a member of the Information & Infrastructure Technology Services
(I & ITS) team, assisting in the implementation and utilization of current and emerging technologies to meet or exceed the desired outcomes as mandated by Alberta Education, and the district. The overall goal is to enable staff and students to the use of technology in the delivery of the curriculum. The key responsibilities include planning, acquiring, installing, configuring, implementing, maintaining, troubleshooting and accounting for all computers/networks/software and peripheral devices in the school that are used for instructional purposes.
This is a 12 month, Out of Scope, Level 4, full-time, permanent position with a salary range of
$57,967-$72,458 to commence September 15, 2014.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide the ongoing maintenance and support to computers on the network, ensuring a high level of functionality and reliability for both staff and students;
Consult with district staff to ensure technical issues are understood and resolved;
Perform first level technical diagnosis and problem resolution related to district applications using a combination of personally accumulated knowledge, education, experience and previously identified resolutions;
Deploy laptop and desktop images and software through imaging deployment software in accordance with consistent standards;
Open trouble tickets with external vendors to resolve warranty/out of warranty hardware problems and track to completion;
Seek to improve processes, products and services by identifying opportunities where information technology may assist in the resolution;
Maintain technical knowledge through on-going professional development activities.
Degree or diploma in an area related to computer sciences, plus three years of directly related experience including troubleshooting networked workstations;
In-depth knowledge of PC hardware configuration and working knowledge of Windows MCP, TCP/IP protocol, A+ Certification, or equivalent experience;
Knowledge of routing and switching concepts and configuration; different hardware platforms; different operating systems and their integration issues; a large variety of software productivity applications;
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and to present complex technical concepts in a simple understandable format;
Strong analytical skills and problem-solving skills;
Strong teamwork skills with the ability to work in collaboration with others;
Strong time management skills with the ability to balance conflicting priorities;
Highly motivated and self-directed with the ability to remain calm and focused in very stressful situations.
Note: Access to a vehicle is required for travel to sites throughout Edmonton
