The Economic Development Association of British Columbia (EDABC) is seeking a Membership & Event Coordinator for part-time/full-time, temporary maternity coverage. EDABC is the leading provincial association of economic development practitioners. It is dedicated to providing services that support the activities, profile and educational development of its members and the economic development goals of the communities they serve.

Membership Duties:

  • Answer all member inquiries
  • Maintain membership database using various tools including MS Excel, online directory, etc.
  • Recruit new members and coordinate membership renewals
  • Organize monthly newsletter

Event Coordination Duties:

  • Manage event registration before and during events
  • Coordinate event speakers
  • Make travel arrangements
  • Participate in event planning and managing agendas
  • Secure sponsorship

Administrative Duties:

  • Answer incoming calls
  • Open, sort, and distribute incoming correspondence, including faxes and email
  • Prepare invoices, reports, memos, letters, financial statements and other documents, using word processing, spreadsheet, database, and/or presentation software
  • Process credit card payments
  • Make updates to association website
  • File and retrieve corporate documents, records, and reports
  • Prepare responses to correspondence containing routine inquiries as requested
  • Perform general office duties such as ordering supplies, maintaining records management systems
  • Manage and maintain executives' schedules
  • Other duties as assigned

Skill Requirements:

  • Self-starter; ability to work with little supervision
  • Ability to prioritize
  • Very thorough attention to detail
  • Highly organized
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of Adobe InDesign an asset
  • Prior experience in economic development an asset
  • Web design experience an asset
