Part- Time Group Leader
East Scarborough Boys and Girls Club - Scarborough, ON

The Boys and Girls Club of East is looking for caring adults interested in promoting childhood development through play and outcome based programs. Staff will have the opportunity to share their skills and interests with our diverse and unique community.

Required Skills:

  • Individuals who are enthusiastic, energetic with creative program planning skills
  • Genuine interest in working with children between the ages of 6-14 years
  • Strong leadership skills, programming skills, time management, and children/youth management skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrate ability to work in a team environment

Major Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for a group of up to 10 children for the after school program
  • Create a safe environment for all members participating in our programs
  • Be an active participant in the planning and implementation of Developmentally appropriate programs
  • Prepare and serve afternoon snack
  • Plan and modify programs based on the diversity and uniqueness of participants
  • Provide opportunities for children to be challenged physically, cognitively and emotionally in a positive supporting environment by using effective planning methods
  • Plan and implement special events and specialty programs
  • Actively participate in activities with children
  • Responsible for recording daily program attendance and program log
  • Assist in the set up and cleanup of program areas
  • Actively participate in training, workshops, staff meetings, program planning and evaluations
  • Develop and maintain a professional working relationship with co-workers, parents, partners and the community
  • Depending on program needs, staff may be required to work at multiple locations
  • Responsible for administrative duties as assigned
  • Other duties as assigned

Key Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a CYW, SSW, ECE, Recreation and Leisure or related diploma/certificate
  • Hold a valid Standard First Aid and CPR-C Certificate
  • High Five Principles of Healthy Childhood Development or willing to obtain.
  • Food handling certificate or willing to obtain.
  • Experience working or volunteering with children, youth and families
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada
