Reporting to the General Manager, Plant Operations and Maintenance Manager will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of all equipment throughout the East Hants Sportsplex including: 2 ice surfaces, multipurpose indoor sports field, refrigeration plant, HVAC equipment and meeting and community rooms.


  • Perform routine maintenance and preventive maintenance of the facility on the daily basis
  • Prepare and manage annual operations budget
  • Manage, performance manage, train and motivate staff
  • Adequately schedule all Full-time and Part-time operations employees while adhering to budgetary parameters
  • Attend Bi-weekly staff meetings, perform weekly huddles with your team and give input regarding all related building issues
  • Flexibility with work schedule – nights, weekends and holidays
  • Purchase all materials required for the Operations Department
  • Other duties as assigned by General Manager

Education and Experience:

  • Valid Class 2 Power Engineer/Refrigeration licence including 3 years of supervisory responsibilities
  • Ice maintenance certificate and knowledge of Stadium/Ice arena operations including refrigeration and HVAC equipment
  • Self motivated, energetic team player able to deal with a fast paced environment
  • Sound organizational, coordinating, time management , and personal interface skills
  • Familiarity with football, soccer and hockey requirements
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety requirements
  • First Aid/CPR or willingness to obtain
  • WHMIS Certification required
