Process Control Engineer -

The Sawmill, Kilns and Planermill employ approximately 200 people. Annual Lumber production is approximately 325 million board feet of SPF dimension lumber. The mill has a history on continuous improvement and has recently undergone a major expansion to the Planermill. The Position
There will be period of on boarding to help become familiar with the manufacturing environment. Once complete your initial assignment will include the following:

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support the controls/electrical maintenance and engineering team in daily activities and troubleshooting to support plant operation
  • Project Support

*Research, Planning, Development and/or Execution of Expense and/or Capital Projects
*Drawing Updates and Development (Visio/AutoCad)
*Project Management Activities (including but not limited to Budgetting/Scheduling/Contractor (Selection/Management), etc )
*Commissioning and Startup Support

  • Programming Support for Machine Center Automation/Control and Operator Interfaces

*PLC's (AB ControlLogix (RSLogix5000) , Modicon Quantum/984 (Proworx32))
*Application Programming with Visual Studio .NET (Preferred Language Visual Basic)
*Motion Control (AB Kinetix/Ultra3000, Delta MMC)
*VFD (AB PowerFlex, Mitsubishi, Baldor)
*Machine Vision Systems (Cognex, Lucidyne Gradescan, USNR Laser *Scanner/Optimizers, Hermary Opto Laser Scanners)

  • Systems Support for Manufacturing Environment

*Process IT Equipment (Computer, and Networking Systems)
--including backups, network maintenance, software updates and upgrades, databases
--PC builds and deployments and maintenance
--Hardware Upgrades
*Reporting Systems (Activplant, SQL Server Reporting Services)
*Optimization Systems
*Developing and Delivering Training on Systems
*Lifecycle Management
*Safety Systems (Electrical or Other)

The successful candidate will have following:

  • A strong commitment to working safely and protecting the safety of others
  • Work effectively within Team Setting in Demanding Environment
  • Self Starter and Quick Learner with Strong interpersonal and Communication/Documentation Skills
  • Manufacturing Experience with background in Automation, Controls, PLC's, or Electrical Systems

Preference will be given to those with the following:

  • At least minimum of two (2) years experience in related Engineering field
  • Engineering (Electrical, Computer, Software, Electronics, Automation, Process, Industrial)
  • Prior Registration with APEGA or Able to Transfer/Register with APEGA as EIT or P.Eng
  • Excellent Computer/Programmer & IT Skills
  • Strong Mechanical Background
